Nice! Great to see another turntable buy. :)

I've inherited around 200 records from my Dad (he died a while back but I've only just thought to actually take the records now), and he has the same taste in music as me, so I've already got a great collection of stuff :) We've spent all day listening to things today, I love it.

I'm waiting for a carbon fibre cleaning brush to arrive from Amazon as a lot of the records are dusty so there's quite a few pops when playing. My fiancee and I have bought quite a lot of reggae/dub stuff though, and it's sound bloody amazing!

One of the problems with vinyl is it degrades pretty badly if you don't set up the tonearm counterweight right (it literally digs into the vinyl if it's too heavy, and it degrades anyway over time due to the nature of the format). So the condition of what you've inherited will depend entirely on how well your dad set up his table. A cheap way of cleaning it is wood glue. Vids on youtube showing the method.

I run my cart at 1.8 tracking force which should be ok. There's lots of problems running at the wrong force for your cart - you can ruin vinyl as you've said.

When I had my turntables and PA speakers, I used to run mine slightly heavy because the amount of bass and volume I was playing at would sometimes cause the needle to jump because of particularly low sub bass. Could have just turned the volume down I suppose, but you gotta listen to that ragga jungle as loud as possible!

I mean, it's not like it's carving the grooves like it would a dubplate, but continually heavy use on a record you're rinsing out you'll definitely notice the degradation quicker than a properly weighted and less frequently used record.

Here's something for you (or anyone considering investing in vinyl) to read over Squirrel: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vinyl_disc_records_preservation

Very nice :D I went from a 32" to a 50" in my room, it was amazing for a while, now 50" feels very normal. I think the next step is a projector on a 110" screen really :D

My football shoes are pink/purple. See nothing wrong with them as long as I only wear them for football :D

Sports shoes are meant to be all colored and flashy imo. I won't wear a bright green/yellow/pink/red etc. pair of shoes when I go out, but for sports its justified imo.

Did anyone get shot over the release of those like they usually do with the Jordans? That's how you know whether they're worth anything or not. Body count.

My Vans Atwoods arrived yesterday. Didn't even have to use my AK.
