I expect he got his Surface 2 at a hefty discount, as I've seen them going for pretty cheap, fire sale cheap probably, and their specs are still pretty good, they're even able to get away with quite a few games on medium to max settings (older ones obviously but still very good games). You could just about get away with Dishonored at near max settings at 1080P on one.
It's clearly not an attempt at justification, he clearly finds the way some people freak out amusing. He wouldn't be posting them if he felt unjust in buying them. Personally, I don't see the appeal, and I am actually quite the fan of anime, but I like the dark stuff in the vein of Death Note, or something like Cowboy Bebop, but each to their own.

There's plenty of them on eBay, when I looked it was the original Surface Pro, the same specs of 2 just with a lesser battery. I haven't looked since the Pro 3 came out though.
I haven't seen the Hit Girl statue, but she isn't sexualised in Kick Ass is she?

Raspberry Pi running OpenELEC, and in the background is an iBUS controller (which I soldered together myself
) for the car which will allow me to run XBMC through the onboard monitor in the car with full steering wheel and onboard monitor control.
