i always wonder what people actually do with these they seem awesome but my brain cant think of a use.

I'm tempted to get one to use as a media pc which would free up my actual PC to be used for proper things, currently it's plugged into the TV and rather overkill for media. Could also replace a freeview box too if you set things up right.

Excellent for home streaming :)

what does that even mean!?

is that playing netflix on the telly?

meh see thats something that the PlayStation/xbox seems to have cornered quite well it's all my ps3 does now

especially as they can play blu rays etc.

It means you can set it up to act as a media player, this lets you connect to a NAS or PC to get your content, loaded with plex or Kodi you can watch all your films and TV shows without having to sit at the PC :)

Which I can also do with my £20 Chromecast.

Am I missing something here? I've always wanted an excuse to buy a Pi but there's nothing it can do that I can't do already.

Maybe my imagination's broke?

A media player is just one of the many things it can do, it's essentially just a tiny PC - its abilities are mostly limited by your imagination (and processing power)

I use my Rpi to play all my favourite retro games in the motor, incase i arrive at work a little early.
Can also use it for movies for a passenger or whatever.

Caught in major traffic on the Dartford bridge once. So I fired up Super Bomberman for the SNES. Could see drivers next to me just watching me play.

Black Widow Stealth edition. (Whatever that actually means)
Little big for my liking. Num pad is never used.
But bought it for £20, so I'm not complaining.

If only someone would create a smart TV type thing with USB ports so you can hook up external hard drives, or put a network adaptor on the TV so you can access you NAS. Tha would be amazing.

Already got it :D Although for some reason it still shows as if I can redeem. To be honest it's one of the reason I bought it, I don't actually need one for a couple of months but with £15 of Amazon vouchers sitting around and £5 to be redeemed it essentially cost me £10 out of my pocket.

Yeah that's what I do, Ethernet straight into tv, use dlna to access my NAS, no faffing with any devices then. ;)
