It was either this positions or backs facing the wall directly at less than 10cm... so the angled option gives them more room to breathe.

Stands are too unstable with cats in the house... one of my iQ7s broke because it got knocked over (by me, actually - not the kitties - even if they were close on a few occasions).

I'd need something really sturdy. I'm not yet sure how they'll be laid out in the new place - but it'll be different. There's no excessive issues at their current distance, but with the angle - it's not creating a high pressure zone.

No need for a sub woofer with these, they're good enough.

You sound like a little KEF fanboy. :D

Fair play, but to me, the KEF sound is far too harsh in the highs and fatiguing if you're using them to listen to music all day.

Thats for the 9095cc that cant be used whilst plugged into the shaver socket the 9090cc you can use at the same time.
For some reason they are not selling models 9090 & 9050 in the UK only the 9095 & 9040 , probably think us over here dont have shaver sockets.
I just got back from town....;)

I wanted the 9095cc because it can be used wet & dry if it rans out of charge while shaving I just have go to work with only half my face shaved..:p

I've used a cheaper Series 3 Wet & Dry for what seems like decades.
Sometimes I take the top off, fill it with liquid soap and keep dipping it in water which gives a great shave.

Am going have to try doing that with my cheaper braun CoolTec CT5cc wet & dry shaver

But my everyday shaver I used for last few years has been a Braun Series 7 790

I am rather fond of them... I really enjoy the clarity in them, other speakers I find tend to muddle sounds a lot more, Kef are good at keeping the separation... including in the highs.

I know what you mean though, with the wrong amp - they can get harsh or too bright.

Bright amp + Kefs = tiring.

Warm amp + Kefs = great combination.

So they work rather well with my Denon & Marantz AVRs, but the best with this valve amp.

I had been planning on exploring a bit more... when I upgrade my home theatre system, I'm either planning B&W CM10s for FR & FL and appropriate other bits or a full setup from Teufel audio.

When looking at these, I was also considering some Klipsch speakers & Dali & Monitor Audio & B&Ws... but I just kept coming back to these for this setup... the size, look and audio combo was just spot on.

Those Uni-Q drivers on those Kefs are really excellent, doesn't matter about the seating position as the way they work doesn't require an "ideal position" unlike with standard speaker cabinet configs.

Indeed, although my amp is a NAD D3020 so it should be fine, relatively.

I'm currently trying out 685 S2s to see if they're a good replacement for my Q300s! £800 for LS50s are a bit steep for my blood at the moment though.

I'm not familiar with that amp.

Try and find a place to demo the LS50s... they're really rather nice ;)

I tried but wasn't very successful haha. If the sound is similar to the Q300s though I don't know how I'd feel about it for long listening periods.

Compared to the Q900s... they're softer (less of that peaky harshness you dislike) while maintaining the clarity I love... interesting combination, hard to describe.

Either way, if you're not fond of the Kef sound, these may not be for you... I got them for £740 :)

I really like the B&Ws... hope you enjoy them.

Also depends on what type of music you listen to... for my personal preference... I think the Kefs are better for Trance / Classical / Vocal... whereas the B&Ws are better for Rock / DnB

What sized room (m x m) would be the limit for the B&W 685 S2 or KEF LS50s would you say?

Currently looking for some super detailed (clarity, separation and definition) speakers, not sure whether to look at standmount or more floor standers. Read good things about both the KEF and B&W.
