What surprises me most is that they are only £11 cheaper. I would expect them to be much more cheaper as technology gets cheaper and cheaper.

Ram can be volatile though and go up and down but I still remember paying £30 per me to increase my ram from 1mb to 4mb!

oops never saw them deals as was a spur of the moment buy. Just set it all up and works great and does the job with my Sky, TV, BR and Amp.

I don't need the hub and so saved myself £10 i suppose.

The hub lets you control stuff from your phone. Useful if you left the remote on the other side of the room. :o

Memory prices ramped up a lot around that time due to a fire in one of the factories which is why we were seeing kits for 50-60 quid which were previously 30 quid, like now. Although the faster spec RAM seems to be the one that has dropped massively which is good.

Same happened with hard drives when the floods happened, £65 for a TB was the norm for half a year.

Yup knew that, did a little research before buying, but obviously missed the obvious of the +£10 deal to get the hub combo.

Oh well, I got it cheap and new.

Big thumbs up from me for anyone wanting to go the Harmony route.

I think part of it that as they ramp up production of the newer, faster ram the production of the old units is cut thus losing some of the savings from mass production.

If you watch RAM prices over say 10 years or more allowing for things like fires and earthquakes you notice that in the life time of every ram type there is a sweet spot where the price drops for a while, then it'll steadily increase and keep going up and not go back down as the production stops and you're starting to pay for rarer stock.

It's a large part of the reason I went for 32gb of ram straight of with my last build, I was fed up of putting enough ram in for when I wanted the new system then finding 12-18 months later that the price of ram had risen that much.

Just finished buying the Christmas presents for our four year son, do you think he has enough?
The PS4 in the background was a present too - we gave it to him early.

I get that you want to spoil your kid, but at 4 years old he won't appreciate any of it, they'll be just another object in a weeks time.

in before spoilt child debate.

edit: dammit.

:D

Tbh, I buy my kids spontaneous toys when out and about or internet shopping, my wife at their birthdays and Christmas goes absolutely mental though. I just let her do what she wants :(

Kids are more bothered about cardboard boxes than the contents usually.

Nope. Think he needs an iPhone 6s plus and an iPad Pro tbh.

Could tell his mates about it all at the sand pit the following day.

:p
