great headphones, have a set myself.
Don't listen to tinpot sonny about needing another set for gaming, that's just stupid.
I really can't fathom why that's important... Use a USB 3 Ethernet adapter if you really really must but in reality what situation do you need Ethernet on a laptop when not using a dock or some such?

USB Type-C is the future, starting /now/ nearly all high end devices and laptops are coming with USB-C ports. The C standard can handle up to 100 watts of power, networking, video, audio, power transmit in both directions and much more.
RJ45 is dead on portable devices.
Lol its pretty well known they are terrible for gaming.
A quick Google would tell you that or mad lust envys thread on head fi
You may say that, but I've not heard of any of the big networking companies working on infrastructure for the Type-C connector yet brb doing some research on the Type-C.
e; Can't find anything on replacing the RJ45. But I'm not to up on the technical aspects behind pinouts. But it'll be interesting to see if the big networking names start producing a Type C faceplate for your typical 4 Pair Ethernet cable. I know some networking companies are trying to push 100W down Ethernet, in the ability to have a hot desk with just a single ethernet cable to power the device and let it talk to the network. Although with heat dissipation it'll be interesting to see how a Type-C cable puts up with 100W.
The idea of that is, you can have a comms room with all your UPS systems in there too, in fit out Cat6a can be run to pretty much everything, that way everything can communicate on the network at the same time as being powered (hello smart lighting). In the event of a power outage, the UPS will kick in for the switches which will also ensure everything else is okay. Going to need some beefy UPS's
Ah I mean in laptops and other portables (hybrid notebooks etc). As they get thinner and thinner many don't have a network port any more and some just bundle a USB to RJ45 adapter for those that want it. The end path will be USB-C for everything consumer computery-electronics related . It is the new USB port.
It's part of the C specification. If a device needs 100w then it can draw that amount through the C port. It's not a standard that's suddenly come about though, years in development from the people who gave us USB.
The new Pixel laptoo is 65w, for example.
Yeah I'm just hesitant to see if they can push 100W through it. But again I don't know much about the USB interface
Regardless of developments in the technology, no current laptop would be chargeable via Ethernet as they they aren't built to take advantage of this potential future ability.
So to discount any current laptop that doesn't have Ethernet would be for false reasons.
Tbh, I would have thought wireless charging along Wi GiG would be more likely to to to become a standard than Charging over Ethernet for mobile devices.
True that didn't think of that, but that's not why I'm discounting them The reason I'm discounting them is because of the frequency I need to plug in to switches/wireless APs and I'd rather not have the possibility of losing an adaptor or a customer moaning that it could possibly be an issue.
That's not what you said, but I accept that is a reason to not buy a laptop without Ethernet for you.
