Ok I'm ordering

Linky to yours mate ( Raymond always does his research )

http://www.amazon.co.uk/LS470W-Powe...F8&qid=1458998240&sr=8-1&keywords=dod+ls470w+

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Aukey-Charg...&qid=1458998434&sr=8-1&keywords=aukey+usb+car

I picked it because

1 - Wide angle of view - 150 degrees
2 - GREAT Dynamic range, so big contrast lighting conditions such as driving into the sun at sunset you don't get a bright sky and dark road
3 - Circular polariser filter
4 - HIGH ISO, so great night video, it has a Sony Sensor which is well known as good ISO performance in their DSLR tech
5 - Takes 64G card if you wanted, most on the market only take 32G
6 - It can run off 5V/1a, which means you don't need to hard wire it to your car, just a USB lead with one of those standard cigarette USB adaptor. I got the USB adaptor above because it is practically flushed against the console.
7 - It has a good size battery, so in parking mode, it has enough juice to power itself
8 - It comes with both 3M semi permanent sticky mount and the suction mount. Some dash cam only come with the 3M sticky mount and the suction mount costs extra.
9 - It has things like Parking mode, GPS, lane warning, collision G-force detection (which it will put that clip aside into a separate folder), tiredness warning, lots of little built in extra.

It is not cheap, but I think it is worth the £40 extra over something like a Nextbase 512G which is very popular on the market.

there's cheap chinese dash cams which offer good enough quality that would easily be used as evidence in court for £50. it's not like the 90's where all you saw was pixelated minecraft images.

£200 is stupid money.

look at the dash cams thread in motors section. mrk has a £50 dash cam I believe.

You can get £300 or £400 cams too.

I know you can get £50 ones, but mrk replaced his recently I recall. I prefer to get it once and get it right the first time round.

TBH it's his money mate...

I've done my research.

http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-dash-cam/

http://dashboardcamreviews.co.uk

http://www.driving.co.uk/car-clinic/buying-guide-leading-dashboard-cameras-dash-cams-reviewed/

I looked at all the ones there 4 stars and above, watch YouTube videos, read Amazon user reviews, Q&A in the user reviews, both in the praises and the negatives (1 stars) to see what the common problems are.

I weighted up the price vs features and picture quality.

I weighted up how easy it is to install, what power it draws and what I have in the car vs if I can do it myself.

I weighted up user interface and how easy to use, there is a decent one from the Far East but the interface is in Chinese....if that was in English i would get that.

It wasn't like, oooooh, this one is the best one because it is £200.

You can get something like this, but build quality is not as good, angle of view is not as wide, but it is over 50% less. Rule of diminishing return certainly kicks in as you go up but it is up to you to judge which is the best for you.

You don't talk to Psycho Sonny like that, you just acknowledge his opinion is fact and move on.

Also Raymond, you should swap your interior lights for some LEDs, makes all the difference.

I've only had my car 3 weeks, not brave enough to start opening up its guts yet lol

Oh, easyrider, watch this.
