I really cant understand why some people don't put covers on there phone.

I can't understand why people mix up there, their and they're but there you go :p

Cases won't save you cracking screens when dropping and they can cause more damage by rubbing the trapped dust and grit against the phone. I know that's the case with someone at work with his S6 edge... had the plastic flip front Samsung case and it just trapped dirt against the screen and made a mess of it.

Same here, never had a case on my phones, never broken anything.
Then again, I don't treat my devices like junk and throw them around/drop them.

I'm the same, never broken a mobile in all my years of using them and until now have never had a case on any of them. The only reason I have a case (one of those grippy ones that looks like a tyre) on the phone I currently use is because I wasn't use to the size of it and the back felt a bit slippy.

I break the bloody things all the time, but it's to be expected in my line of work. The best was when I was using my phone as a torch when I was on a scaffolding about 60m up and it fell. I needed a broom to pick it up :p

The only phone I used a case on was my old HTC Desire. I found it too thin and felt like it was gonna slip out of my hand all the time. I don't even use screenprotector on my Nexus 5. Not a single scratch and I've had it pretty much since it came out.

Well that isn't true at all. I will always buy cases now (rubber skins for that matter) since I dropped an expensive phone on its face and the screen smashed. I make sure the skin sits proud above the screen. That way, if it lands on a corner it is likely to absorb impact, or if it lands on its front, provided it doesn't happen to land on a spiked surface, the screen is less likely to crack.

Next you'll be telling us cycling helmets don't prevent skulls from cracking :D
