Bought this (2 bedroom flat) down in Walthamstow London, with my girlfriend of 7 years, both first time buyers so a very exciting time

We're both only 27 so very lucky to get on the property ladder this early on.

I don't know London much, is that a place where it'll still be crazy prices for a home? How much was yours if you don't mind?

I think the average house price is ~£415k, ours cost £380k for a 2 bedroom new build (completed Nov 2015) with around 800 square feet.

On average Walthamstow saw a price increase of 12.6% last year which is quite nuts.

I work in Derby through the week and most people my age have had a house for at least a few years

£380k here seems to get you a 5 bedroom detached, a couple of ensuites, double garage and a very large garden. Madness!
