yeah I have the 3 for my bedroom. you know google music allows uploads of your own songs (up to 20,000) and you can stream that through the sonos app as well? (presuming you don't have a cool NAS system or the like)

point out to her the puppy isn't multi room.

will do - deezer seems great so far - free as well which is always nice!

Technically not something I bought, but a present from my wife:

Couple of cut-price DC/Ken Block T-Shirts from TK-Maxx:

And a new TV for PS3/Xbox/BluRay - upgraded to a 40" Sony Bravia from an old 22" LG (that's camera flash not a broken screen ;))

Never actually seen that snow foam stuff before, just had a quick look at Demon's stuff. Looks decent! If only my taps where hose friendly.

Bought a new monitor for work.

Ended up paying for it myself as work said as my current 6 year old Dell 19" effort was still working then it didn't need replacing !

Dispite the fact it has been giving me headaches for the past 3 months.

Also had one of the 10.1" Ultima tablets that were on sale the other day for £50. Ideal for what I need a tablet for.
Couple of little marks on the back of it, but screen is in A1 condition. Only problem was it came with the language preset to Dutch !! Fortunatly I managed to work out the setting.

You had to pay for a new work monitor for yourself? That's insane. We keep a stock of a few different monitor types, surprised your IT department couldn't just swap the old one out.

not necessarily.. here we dont carry spares for example. we only order them for new positions or if HR request one for a failed HSE workspace assessment.

we wouldnt necessarily swap one out unless it was faulty either (flickering, corrupt display etc etc).

We don't have an IT department !! :D

Myself & a collegue sort out any issuse we have, the last one before Chrismas was our server failing & having to set-up the entire system from scratch again.

Our boss isn't the slightest bit interested in IT, her answer to anything related is "just sort it" but there's no money for it

For £90 though the monitor is excellent. my eyes are thanking me already!

How does the business survive without a proper IT infrastructure?

I wish I knew !!
She won't even let us change from BT for our broadband (we get an average of 1-3mb) as she thinks it will effect her fibre connection at home !!

As the system we use to do 90% of our work is web based then I have tried for the past 6 years to convince here otherwise.
Virgin offered us 60mb fibre for £100 PM less than we currently pay & even that didn't convince her.

I was a bit hasty in saying that. I wouldn't authorise it to happen unless it was required. If a user is complaining of headaches due to a small display size, I would ask them to to meet with the health and safety manager. Also all staff undertake a health and safety display equipment screen test/review each year.

That is insane . I feel for you. Out of interest what type of business is this?

we get a few people trying it on using the "its too small it gives me a headache" line to get a nice sparkly new large screen but people seem oblivious that ultimately replacing it for a larger newer display is only probably going to have a higher resolution (i.e. smaller text).
