Immigrants taking council homes.

Although there is no clear policy that gives immigrants priority over Council housing I am pretty sure it is going on. Council workers are terrified of the racial discrimination card being used so they cave in quickly to avoid any chance of problems.

My sister got married to an immigrant, when she was on her own she was told there was no chance of being homed for at least two years. When she went back in with her new husband she had a house within a week.

That's having dual accounts, not avoiding a suspension.

Well a suspension stops you from participating in the forum for a while. Having another account allows you to continue doing so, therefore dodging the suspension, no? :)

meh, my post got buried by people discussing offtopic rubbish \o/

It didn't get buried, one person posted something off topic. Seems to me like you're desperately wanting to get a reaction to your post.

Given the very fact that they need council housing I doubt very much that the 'British' people will have contributed much to the state in the first place.

Really. For your information not everyone who has a council house is on the dole. They have probably contributed more to the state than someone who has just arrived. Why should someone who was born in this country NEVER be able to get social housing because it is constantly being given out to immigrants?

I thought council housing was social housing, not white british housing.

For your information there are asian, black, chinese people who are born in this country. I specifically said council houses should be given to people BORN in this country other people who chose to emigrate due to financial reasons.

I never said it was for white people only.

Social housing was intended for the people of this country who were previously in overcrowded and slums and not to house people who chose to move here for purely financial reasons.

No one mentioned colour - I believe we were referring to nationality.

A few of my friends aren't white and are third or fourth generation British.

What if it's an immigrant who's making a useful contribution to society?

Once they have lived here for 5 years and paid enough NI and can speak fluent English then I can see no reason why they cannot apply for council houses.

Meh, new on these forums but quite frankly the BNP are complete scum. Anyone that supports them are either complete scum themselves or just very stupid.

well when poeple like you moses keep playing the race card its not hard to see why, no one mentioned colour yet the race card has come out.

I'd say that was my biggest concern.

Exactly. Political correctness reallly has to stop, it's an adjective - not an insult!

really, why should anyone born in this country not be able to get a job, and then be guaranteed council housing? they will definately not contribute more than someone who has just arrived.

i see this, there are 2 ways to descriminate for housing,

i, place of birth - i.e you get born here, your guaranteed.
ii, utility - i.e you work had and provide a net contribution

clearly one descriminates on "luck of the draw" birthplace, wheras the other actually looks past that.

One of my very best friends works in Council Housing and for years he's been told to give priority to Immigrants. He now refuses to talk about it.

Well, to say anyoen who agree's witht he BNP is stupid, is itself a very silly thing to say, although they are the extreme view in many cases, some of the points they have are there not to be voted in on but to make people aware of an issue, and it works.

Back OT. I did nto see the program but let me tell you what happened on our estate with houses and imagrants.

The estate I live on has been there for over 90 years, so not old, but not new, everyone knows each other and its not uncommon for familys to live int he same house for 3-4 genarations. Its not realyl a nice posh area, but its safe enough to walk down at night and it looks nice, grass cut, houses painted ect.

Now the council do a think every 10 [i think] years where they move people out of the house, gut it, and rebuil dit from the inside. New plaster, wireing, floors, radiators, boiler ect. This takes about 2-3 weeks per house and the people are moved to a near by estate until the houses are done then moved back. As the nearby housing is tempary they arnt built too well, are not looked after and normaly have the druggie population in them.

So this happened about 5 years ago, they moved out 15 houses and put them on the nearby estate. 3 weeks later they were told that the tempory housing they are in is now there new house as imagrants were being moved into there once homes. I know they are council, but when some of them have lived there for more than 60 years to be turfed out like that was shocking. It got worse when the BNP leaked the fact that the council who made this choice has also given each of the mirgrants £15,000 to spend on furniture, cars, clothes ect. The council said there hands where tied by the goverment who had told them to house these 15 families but instead of them being housed on a new estate near the centre of town, they get moved 14 miles away into our town.

Lets just say the people were not happy at all, infact 4 of the houses, when the familys were not there, where ruined with fire attacks in disgust at what had happened. The people who got moved still are not in there own houses and are still on the 'bad druggie' estate and this still leaves a bitter taste in everyones mind, especialy when they drive around in flash cars bought with handouts for us.

Lets just say the process needs to be looked at as the one in place now only makes the people they displace hate the imagrants and there is no need for this, if they did it correctly we could all live in peace and get on with each other. As it is, if your white, single and working, you aint got a hope in hell of getting a house near me. If your an imagrant the concil seem to bend over backwards to give you a house, car, cloths, food and anything else you could want.

This is from personal view and in no way do i support the BNP.

colin [sorry for spelling]
