IMPORTANT: Members Market access

I don’t understand how people can have such a need for buying and selling that they’d end up posting more there than other parts of the forum to the point that they lose access.

Is this why our economy is broken?

I’ve probably used it less than 5 times in 9 years… it’s a nice feature but not the end of the world if it disappears or became harder to access.

^ captive, informed market with a lower than average risk profile plus - and here's the kicker - no fees.
Yeah I get that but to use that part of the forum to the exclusion of everywhere else, resulting in now losing access, suggests you’re not using it in the spirit it was intended for.

It’s like when you used to go to Calais and they ask if all the booze and cigs from Carrefour are for your personal consumption. It’s obvious when people are taking the mick.

No one needs to buy and sell so much that they couldn’t also add a few comments elsewhere a couple times a week, unless they’re actually trading in which case GTFO.

TBF until recently my bedtime phone routine was to scan the day's MM posts in certain categories and see if anything caught my eye. But then contrast that with the fact my morning/breaktime/commute phone time is to browse a few subforums like Home & Garden and Motors... I guess I'm just reinforcing your point.

I feel like at this point this thread is just baiting 500-750 post count holdouts to come and whinge.

The fact that it's driven 400+ new posts is hilarious.
Well yeah but I did not think this thread would blow up the way it did as maybe its me but I found the MM abit quiet/dead so thought people would not be that bothered with the announcement.

The MM is one of the few places I look at but I know that anything that a good price will get snapped up near instantly and the chances of getting it will be near zero as it was quite frustrating at times when people using bots to respond to threads within a minute and the people who when looking at their history are on their 3rd/4th/5th GPU that they are buying for their brothers wifes sons mates dads friends girlfriends sister.

Oof! Just looked! Wasn't it just a single forum bit? Now it's an entire section! No idea it expanded so much! I honestly never look further down than GD/SD for like over a decade!

I honestly don't remember the last time I used MM, I think it was buying a GTX980? That must have been a decade ago!
Yeah it's been a long time for me too. I was quite surprised to see some people have literally hundreds of posts in there, and not many in other parts of the forum.

To be fair, a lot of the posts in this thread were complaining about certain areas of the forum not adding to your post count, forcing you to post in areas that you dont necessarily want/need to.
GD isn't included. Aside from that, the entirety of the hardware subforums (10? More?) And the software/programming/servers/media/hobbies/games ones exist. Plus motors, home and garden, cooking. So... Basically everything except the most generic channel.

the MM is a solid second hand place for buying, ebay is a cancerous cesspit. and the products from the MM were always as described, sold by people who care about the product, packing and generally much easier and nicer to deal with.

I bought a fair few things from there because it saved lots of money, my new system saved ca £500 by using the MM. my previous system i also supplimented with the MM because water cooling is expensive and it makes it affordable.

yes some components are always best new but its a very valuable and appreciated element to the forum. Also that piece of mind when selling, as again ebay or other market place scammers are rife :(

That wasn't the point I was making; I was saying that in order for someone to end up spending the majority of their time on here in the MM, they'd need to be buying and selling an unreasonable amount of stock to the point that it probably isn't normal personal use.

If anything restricting their access to it is probably doing them a favour if they're not actually trading. Anyone upgrading bits of their system more than say annually either has too much disposable income or an unhealthy relationship with the PC hardware.

No personal attacks, @LiE is crying now.
