In a predicament, please help!?

thank you everyone for your help and kind messages! :)
Decided I'll hold out I think it was a rash thought but like people have said Maxwell drivers are done now and wont get any better whereas Pascal will, as well as SLI issues and looking at some games I play ( DOOM, The evil within) don't support sli so the 1080 will be a good chunk better especially since I'm playing at 4k and can do with all the performance I can get :D plus the extra 2GB Vram will help (y)

Maxwell drivers are done? Who told you that?

And comparing Doom at 4K with max settings, there seems to be about 10fps between the 980ti and the 1080, and when both are overclocked that gap narrows.

I don't think it was a rash thought going for two 980ti. The rash thought is going for the 1080, especially now when you are paying massive price gouging.

Maybe I am in the minority here, but you are just been caught up in the new shiny, shiny hype. The 1080 isn't going to offer game changing experience over the 980ti. And you can two 980ti's for the price of one 1080? It's no brainer for me, if you don't like sli, sell one of the 980ti's for 350/375 and keep the other 980ti until the 1080ti comes out. Then get a true performance upgrade.
