Denis Villieneuve, he's doing Dune next, excitement levels off the charts, guy is a fantastic director.

How many times are they going to re-do Dune?

Original was released in 1984, it then had the 3 part mini series (Frank Herberts Dune, 2000-2003) followed closely by The Children of Dune. Now its getting a 3rd outing?

Don't get me wrong i like the film but I'm interested to see what spin on the classic Denis Villeneuve can throw on it.

Don't get me wrong i like the film but I'm interested to see what spin on the classic Denis Villeneuve can throw on it.

The thing with Dune, it's always been said it's a truly unfilmable movie. Now as much as I like Lynch's take on it and the weird pseudo directors cut of the same 1984 movie, it's not held up well over the years and it's reinforced the view that it's unfilmable.

The mini-series was ok, nothing special, just retrod familiar ground from the movie.

DV has proven himself as a truly visionary film maker and I think he can pull it off. It doesn't need to be vastly different, it just needs his stylistic touch. He's also filming as two movies, the first leading into the fall of the Atreides and the second Pauls tranformation into Muad Dib. He's been given guarantees that regardless of how well the first performs, he can make the second and they're filming virtually back to back.
