In continuing with the current tyre theme....

You want me to list all the tyres I've used/bought in over 13 years for over iirc 15 cars most of which modified and most of which performance cars?

Maybe later but as I've already said I've used a lot of what has been mentioned in this thread

You caveat of 'for the price' suggests that you see them as value for money rather than ultimate performance.

I don't agree with your recommendation and I'm more inclined to go with the independent reviews. For a start the Kumhos are slated for poor feedback, something the OP is trying to avoid

I think unless anyone can comment on their ability in the wet then it's pretty much a sealed deal.
Thats the only thing i'm worried about, I want very good tyres, But dont necessarily want to die on a rainly motorway trip either.
Any experiences of Ad08s in the wet anyone?
I'm happy with them not being amazing in the wet, Just as long as they arent awful.

As he's after ulitmate performance then ignore it, I was more fixated on the fact he cant find anything in the size that he wants and threw an alternative into the mix forgetting he wants the best available

I already said they are fine in the wet, no different to most summer tyres and even have an EU 'A' rating for wet performance.

User comments on AD08. Seem well regarded. I know they are users but they are on my car so I can relate to these comments.

My experience then, well when brand new I can honestly say wet or dry they are the most impressive 'grip' tyres I have ever had on any car and certainly on the S

Traction, there was simply not enough power in the car to trouble the tyres, from a standing start the tyres would give massive grip to give maximum traction immediately and right through the power range in every gear.
Sold Then :)
Sounds good enough to me.

Have to watch standing water.

To be honest most tyres won't break traction in an S2000. Even today F1AS2 will allow all of first gear. My Rover turbo had about the same power but the pig iron engine helped that with traction.

They are utterly fantastic so you won't regret it. That guy on the s2k forum seemed to get very poor life out of them though. My rears lasted about 9k, they only had 6mm when I bought them, did skids every single day and 6 or 7 track days. My experience is they are extremely durable when all is considered.

You don't have to watch standing water really either. Heck I even drove them into deep flood water at 60mph a couple of times with no real drama to speak of.

He's running a lot of toe which is designed to generate heat on the standard setup. Plus if its a weekend car it will be ragged everywhere. Most road tyres get 6k on a hard driven s2000 so I would say the wear rate is equivalent but as you say starting tread is less

Starting tread is a full 8mm. I got mine used with 6mm on for a bargain price. Just bought a set of 6mm F1AS2 in much the same manner £185 including a set of M3 contour wheels makes me happy indeed.

I'll say one thing though, I noticed that by the time the tread was down to 3mm the grip level did tail off a bit. I guess the heat cycles take their toll after a while, might be better shaved to 6mm depending on how much abuse you plan to give them.
