In Mensa!

Just goes to show that IQ means absolutely nothing in real-world intelligence terms.

Guess that nugget of social wisdom didn't come up in the join-the-dots puzzle or whatever other utterly futile ability gets you a high IQ these days.

Effectively, I'll take that as a compliment then. I wouldn't feel the need to take someone down for something distinguishing because I probably wouldn't feel that he's elevated above me, which you must do to have invoked this term. ;)

You really are stuck up your own arse, with your annoying name, 'I think I'm classy' sig, your little suit and geek sunglasses. Well let me tell you, you're not cool, you're not above us and you certainly aren't going to be pleasing any ladies any time soon.

So please, take your IQ, your good looks, your dwarf snake, and gtfo.

Can see why you're not in Mensa. Did you not think that might have been a troll? :p

I'm not confusing anything at all, I'd already pointed out that: "having a high IQ isn't a good indicator of real-world intelligence (which is a combination of the skills required to do well in an IQ test combined with world experience, knowledge retention, and a billion-and-one other things too)."

Apologies if you found that difficult to understand.

What you're talking about isn't "real-world intelligence" its something more vague like "nouse", inwhich case your statement is true, high IQ isn't a good indicator of nouse.

IQ recognises patterns, picks up skills quicker, generally comprehend things. Think of early man, one of the species used stone tools to scavenge meat off dead animals. They used a core stone and struck it with a hammer stone to create sharp flakes useful for their intended purpose. The smartest apes today have been shown this technique excessively, but cannot replicate the comprehension of how to strike the stones at the right angle, on the right point, and with the right force to make useful flakes.

Tbh your username doesn't help you at all. 'The Sophisticate' indicates you feel you're superior in some way, and that is before you actually say anything.

T'was intended to be indicative of my desired lifestyle, being appreciative of finery in most of it's forms. Perhaps I overestimated the calibre of the OcUK poster, and didn't think that it could be construed as trying to be superior. :(

Did you know that "it's" actually means "it is", rather than the possessive "its" you clearly think it means?

Wrong. Possessiveness takes presidence over contraction. Where's a grammar nazi when you need one? Besides, the most important aspect is consistency.
