In need of a build spec to replace a dinosaur

My god, sorry, i forgot about you i was busy!

Ok, google gtx 970 Memory Problem or read this ----> http://wccftech.com/nvidia-geforce-gtx-970-memory-issue-fully-explained/

Iron-Man, very sorry for late reply. Also has 2 sides to it, some are saying they notice no problems & everything is great, others say it's driving them nuts. Have to make own call on this but personally, i would not touch a gtx 970.

If you want better than a gtx 960 and cannot afford a gtx 980 then i'd go with either one of these.

That sort of thing would be my idea of a system with or around your budget.

*forgot about windows so i'd go with Win7 £80 https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=SW-127-MS&groupid=33&catid=1555 Can be upgraded to Win 10 later.

Thanks again little freak, is there a reason why you said windows 7 rather than 10 as there isn't a lot of diffrence in price on those.

Does anyone else have any other suggestions or alterntive specs to give me some options and food for thought as looking to order this next week so just wanting to weigh up options.

Thanks

You are welcome Iron-man.

Windows 7 does not come with all of that microsoft spyware that Windows 10 comes with. Well, so we think :) It's also as easy as XP to use and super stable.

Personally I'd go with something like this (all prices are from OCuk) it would eat games for breakfast :-)

HIS Radeon R9 380 IceQ X2 2048MB £149.99
SuperFlower Leadex GOLD 650W Fully Modular "80 Plus Gold" £87.95
Crucial BX100 250GB SSD SATA £67.99
AMD Athlon X4 860K Black Edition 3.70GHz (Socket FM2+) £55.99
Gigabyte GA-F2A68HM-HD2 AMD A68 Chipset (Socket FM2+) £39.95
Kingston HyperX Fury White 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-14900C10 1866MHz £38.99
BitFenix Neos ATX Tower White/Blue £29.99
LG 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - £13.99

Total : £484.84

Don't forget to add the price of Windows.

Defoerate thanks for the suggestion, I think I prefer. To stick with Intel at least an i5 but wondering if I should try and go for i7 in case the playing I am currently doing with photoshop leads to anything else.

Little freak yeah I always look around the other section as well as this to see if I can get ideas but a lot of the time it's difficult as people specs machines based on desired use and budget which you very rarely find someone else with exactly the same
But thanks I am always keeping an eye out too see as I want to get my best bang for buck but being not very knowledgable of all the tech it is difficult but hey ho I'll keep trying to learn

Thanks

Fast and dirty i7.

Total is £860 +Shipping! Good PSU for the future. No second hard drive though (can get that later or add one yourself) and the slightly cheaper Zalman Z1 Case instead of the R1.

You could get 16GB of slightly slower ram for the same price though, if you want. Kingston HyperX Savage Red 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-19200C11 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit (HX324C11SRK2/16) £69 https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-204-KS&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=2549
