In SERIOUS debt!

Dude, by the time i have finished my degree I shall be no less than £16,000 in debt! The a lot more if i do a Ph.D....

The student loan you have is nothing to worry about, that will sort itself out over time. If you can pay your girlfriend back slowly as well, that would help a lot. As for the other stuff, well im no expert so i cant really advise... Sorry

I wouldn't worry about it too much tbh, what most other people have suggested is fairly sensible.

You can just "ignore" the student loan for now, so when you take that out there isn't much left. Just make sure you pay your credit card as the repayments wont be too high for a small balance like that. If you start missing payments you will get the late payment charges and your balance will start to go up. Additionally this will mess up your credit rating if it goes on which could cause problems later down the line.

I'm doing pre-debt sale at work atm, which is accounts which are at least 8 months in arrears (some are actually around 3 years in arrears!) which we can't sell because they are making payments but have no kind of arrangement. (for various reasons, often their own fault) People often owe about £20k, just to us and are paying £1 a month back etc.

The general attitude of people in this country who are in debt or spending credit is absolutely shocking. The majority simply do not give a damn at all and have no interest in even trying to sort it out. There is always a solution though and if people are willing to actually do something about it there is always a way out.

As a side note, to anyone else who is in serious debt - NEVER, EVER go to a "debt management company" who charge you. They are useless, sort nothing out with your creditors, take your money and a lot of companies wont even accept their offers. There are free alternatives like the cccs as someone mentioned before.
