Nice to see a big slow down in the speed these cards are going at compared to a week or two ago. Perhaps Ocuk will consider dropping prices to the RRP of £199 soon and the sensible ones among us can finally get to purchase them. See a similar card elsewhere, in stock, cheaper. Also Ati\Amd are telling us there should be a big jump from thousands to tens of thousands in numbers of cards available, so come on Ocuk.:eek:
 
Saw these this morning before I went to work and have been tempted ever since. But over £500 with delivery and I just cant justify it, I keep trying too but its 5970 price range and if I just have a bit of patience could save about £100.

Doesnt help that its a friday as well, wont turn up till monday and by then I will have regreted it, had it been this time yesterday would have probably bought and been happy with it lol

obviously the price making sell so slow, but I guess OCUK knows they can get rid of their stock even if its slow. Not like they're gonna get some more in tomorrow :).

I'm looking to replace my GTX280 in the very near future, but I am unsure whether to just grab one of these, or a 5870, or whether I should wait for nVidia to release the Fermi based Geforce cards.

Has anyone upgraded from a GTX280/260 to one of these 5850's?

Would it be a pointless upgrade, are these cards a lot better than a 280, or would I be better off going for a 5870 instead?

If I wait for nVidia, I could be waiting forever, and I really want a change now.

It'll have to be a canny drop, as VAT goes back to 17.5% on 1st Jan, so everythings going up, so id say you wont see em at £200 anymore.

I can understand why they are expensive, I mean honestly, limited stock and OCUK are one of the few who has them. Personally for me, I'm gonna sit back and just see how it all pans out with the prices when more stock arrives.
 
yup i've seen some in stock a few days ago, again it was Powercolor and it took 2 days to sell out. and a lot cheaper price than OCUK.
