** IN STOCK NOW ** PowerColor ATI 5850 1GB GFX Card

I'm looking to replace my GTX280 in the very near future, but I am unsure whether to just grab one of these, or a 5870, or whether I should wait for nVidia to release the Fermi based Geforce cards.

Has anyone upgraded from a GTX280/260 to one of these 5850's?

Would it be a pointless upgrade, are these cards a lot better than a 280, or would I be better off going for a 5870 instead?

If I wait for nVidia, I could be waiting forever, and I really want a change now.

Save yiour cash and stick with the 280 for now. You need to be running an a very high res with lots of AA in any game (*bar Crysis!) to need a faster card at the moment and DX11 has not yet become worth the upgrade... prices will drop early next year

im prettttty sure the stock system is not automatic - its one of the worst things about buying from here. Even more so when you have tiny stock ammounts like this... It allows them to grab your money and make a killing with it, in the mean time.

Heres hoping they get a new system one day soon

Someone told me that they're not supposed to take the money before they're ready to send the goods. Pre-orders may be different. |It's only what someone told me so probably wrong.

Thanks for the reply mate.

It's just the upgrade itch that's bothering me, I really want a new toy to play with, I'm sure you know what I mean by this??

I think if I do decide to upgrade from the 280, it will be for a 5870, and will probably look into buying a 2nd one later on to run in Crossfire.

Yeh I know what you mean. I usually upgrade my graphics at Xmas but to be honest with the price gouging thats going on and the fact there are no Dx11 games and my 4890 copes very well, I don't see the point. I'm trying to be very sensible and considering upgrading my 22" monitor to a 24" 1080p instead. what do you think?
