Price drop then please? :D

£245.99 for the Powercolour... they definitely need to come down.

True fair value of a 5850 is around £150 currently. They're not worth any more than that. Thanks to Gordon and pals, we might be in for a shock in the new year if a run on the pound starts (a real threat and more likely than people think).

The 5850 should be around £180. One hundred fifty quid for a 5850 sound a bit too optimistic for me until Nvidia releases something new and puts the pressure on ATI.

This, £200 is what I'd pay for one, at £246/£230 I think I'll pass. They can be pre-ordered from other places at <£200 and, as has been said, I've waited this long I can wait a bit more.

On the other hand, good to see stock is again coming in :)

Fatboy what's the word on the 5970's, still seem rarer than hen's teeth at the mo.....

We are getting stock just not enough free stock. I will know tomorrow what our allocation is this week and apparently 59** is going to be in good supply will keep you all posted. All I can say is go for Sapphire, XFX or powercolor as they are the AIB's we are getting the most support on.

About time these all started coming down in price don't you all think.

I'm in the market for a new card, but just not at that price.

Don't mind paying a premium when things are all new tech, but these have been around a little while now.

Still if enough people buy them then the price will stay high.

And there in lies the problem. Whilst supply was low they've mostly sold out very quickly and this has kept the price high. However its quite noticible that in the last few days most retailors have had stock of the 5850\5870 cards and they are easier to get and some at considerably cheaper prices than others. High time Ocuk lowered their prices and got competitive.

Looks like ATI have finally sorted out their production issues with TSMC and now Fermi won't be out until March AMD can start popping champagne cocks at their HQ.

IF people actually notice they are in stock and stop rush buying, if no one brought a 5850 for 5 days from ocuk, OCUK would drop their price, while people are still entirely foolishly spending the extra and OCUK are selling everything they get they have no reason to drop the price.

But then what are the chances customers in the UK show some patience and self control, not much.

You dissapoint me, i expected nothing less than a novel on this subject.

Agreed.
I've seen 5870's in stock at 300 pound and 5850's in stock at 5850's, 5770's in stock at 100.
Right now, the XFX 5870 can be had for 304.99, XFX 5850 at 217.99

I dont think that will ever happen, if you can afford it, people will buy it. If you are on a tight budget, then fair enough, you might want to leave it for the price to drop, then all of a sudden another card comes out just to make you think twice about your first purchase... Its a catch 22 situation. Depreciation on these things is huge... I try not to worry about it, **** happens.

@Fatboy, any news on the 5970's (Sapphire)?

Agreed. But I have to say on another well known etailor site their super specials did'nt exactly fly out the door, even though they were much better prices than Ocuk. They have sold out now but it took a few days to do so. It will be interesting to see what happens now as sales plummet after the Xmas 'cash' rush. I'm quite cynical about these things and it would'nt surprise me if the 'shortage' was well orchestrated to keep prices artificially high during the festive period to maximise profits.

Now I suspect the 5870\5850 cards will become plentiful and very cheap to boost sales during the next few months.
