In terms of hardware design (not power) why is XBO so poorly put together?

Its not my issue, if you dont know what you are on about and make poor conclusions expect them to be picked up, especially as you constantly seem to do the same to other people when they post.

Ive qualified my point so wriggle all you want, its obvious you generally dont know what you are on about.

ps3ud0

Well you clearly don't know what the word "constantly" means.

Additionally, as I've asked, point out where I said that it'll run cooler based on the sole virtue of it being in a larger case, because you're just adding on to what I've said and arguing against that, as I keep having to remind you of.

You haven't qualified your point, you won't accept that what you are arguing against is content that you added.

It's built with 40nm rather than 28nm process so consumes more power, it's much bigger, it has a power brick, and on top of that it's more expensive.

Why are Microsoft so far behind Sony on the hardware front? The 360 slim was OK but the ps4 makes the XBO look like a poorly assembled box with a bunch of parts inside where as the ps4 is obviously very well designed from the ground up and looks like a coherent package much like apples products do.

Why didn't Microsoft get the Surface designers to work on the XBO to consolidate the design into something coherent and small?
Why do they need a power brick and even with a much smaller console Sony doesn't?
Why is the XBO so poorly constructed and designed?

I'm not talking about power here I'm just talking about the industrial design of the parts and assembly.
It's not many OPs that can bring together both the PS4 and XO proponents in a unified "WTF?!?!?" Well done sir - I take my hat off to you :)

The Xbox looks like a HTPC, the PS4 like the PS3 is pure pron.

When comparing the two I noticed the XBO is basically 'rough around the edges' it's a poorly designed piece of kit I just gave some examples of why. I'm not a fan boy but PS4 is sleek inside and out and also it is 'greener'..

remember this beast of a monster!!

It was fugly and too big for my hands, I have small, nibble hands! This was the reason why I never got an xbox; I didn't know they redesigned the controller till years later by then I wasn't interested anymore.

Some people like it, like some people like the cosmetic of the xbone...
then again some people really should go to specsavers and stop making all their purchases from fleabay. :D

EDIT: The surface isn't the "Best" design neither, It; like most table is just a glass screen. The kick stand only allows the table to be stood at the same angle and the weight of it.. wow... I've not managed to get my hands on a pro yet but suspect that's even heaver.

The XBO does put quite a lot of heat out of the top vents. It'll be useful to heat the room in winter, a bit, anyway :)

Heat output is related to power consumption, so the Xbox One will only output more heat than a PS4 if it consumes more power.

I would expect that the Xbox One wouldn't consume more power than a PS4.

It very likely will consume more power since it's built on 40nm not 28nm like the ps4, so it won't be as efficient..

It is running at higher clocks so could potentially lead to increased power consumption.

All I know is I stuck my mauler over the top of it and thought "hmm that's rather warm".

With regards to the PSU being external, thats just a design decision MS have always gone for, I dont think the way the XO has been built considered it being internal as that decision (having the PSU external) was made first...

ps3ud0

They've only had two previous consoles, the 360 had a brick but the original didnt......

Have you got a source for that?? 40nm really? and ps4 28nm? that's pretty huge.

Considering that they both use pitcairn derived GPUs, and the same Jaguar CPUs, I can't see it being true. It makes no sense for AMD to produce the pitcairn GPU they've been producing for the last year and a half plus, on 40nm.

Sony Fusion Jaguar Radeon ATI GCN 28nm Sourthern Islands

I know ESRAM is fabricated at 40nm, perhaps they had to bump it all up to 40nm since its on soc?
