Nope, back in Winchester/Southampton/Fareham area, anyone recommend places for stuff around there? I was considering a 125 moped aswell, dunno really :rolleyes:

I wouldn't recommend a 125 moped for the reason that typically wheels are smaller, leading to increased instability. Also the 125 mopeds I've seen are quite large, whereas a 125 bike are smaller/thinner making them easier to handle at slow speeds or filter through traffic.
 
Varadero 125, just sold mine this morning for more than I bought it 5 months ago, loved it, a well saught after bike as they are as big as a 600, they hold their money very well

How long did it take to sell? My YBR has been for sale for a week or so now, just no interest in it really :(. Worst time of year to sell and I need to sell quick as I may have to travel from home to uni in derby or sheffield by end of sept. Too many miles for a regular commute on a 125!

Passed test Wednesday, cleaned and painted a few things, advertised it Thursday morning on Ebay £14.99 + £1 supersize photos, phone call Thursday PM sold Friday AM.

Was always going to sell quickly, the Varaderos are really sought after and mine was the cheapest @ £1,500.00 sold it for £1,350.00 to the first viewer, never turn down a decent offer, advertising it on AT was going to cost me £30+ for 2 weeks.

On the painting I took off bar ends / levers / exhaust covers and painted in gloss black, really freshened the bike up, the viewers couldn't find a fault with it :)

Great bike, I love it. I got it, because after trying the CBR I realised that was too small, so I got the YZF, comfortable to ride for a while. Not that far off from an R6 in size, which should help when I come to swap in a few years time. Gives me good mileage in comparison to my car lol, even when ragging it about.

Got mine new, plus it's on 0% so doesn't cost any extra. These bikes have been holding their value pretty good for the moment. But I wasn't thinking of that when I got it, as I knew I'd be on it for a few years to come, as insurance on anything bigger is extortinate for me, plus I don't really need 1000cc or 180bhp for commuting 10 miles to work, lol. So will serve me well as a commuter.

When I skidded mine, it cost me in the region of £250 to rectify, I think it was around £110-120 for a new side fairing, and £90 for the two stickers that go on it. £90! for stickers, lol.
 
I decked a DT125R a few times (mostly on ice), got a few scuffs but nowt worth shelling out for. I'd just pick the bike up and carry on my way :D
 
OP, have you booked your CBT yet? Get it done first and see if you enjoy it :)

No, anyone wanna recommend a decent place to do a CBT test (be it because you went there, or maybe cause you went with the same company etc etc). Main cities I can get to are Fareham, Winchester and Southampton way.

In terms of the bike, like you said I wanna do the CBT test first :)

To be honest, it's only a CBT. As long as they look reasonably professional and well established, I can't see there being much problem with the basic training the day provides.

Or if you can get to Thruxton circuit (don't know how far it is for you) then go with these for the free one hour taster session to see if you enjoy riding, and get used to the gears under free tuition, can't go wrong.

I've just done my CBT, got all my gear, bike, insurance etc and it cost me about £3000 in total with 2k of that going on my CBR125. My CBT was £90 and my gear cost me about £600 in total for helmet, gloves, boots, jacket and trousers.. :)

Cheers for that, live about 45 mins drive from there, so gonna get my sister to.....give me a lift there when I can book myself in for that. They look good, would have course look at doing my CBT there too :)
 
Well had a go today and it felt good, just currently considering whether to get a 125cc bike or scooter now though. The whole gears malarky was quite new and a hassle, didn't feel confident. I know it's something that comes with experience but I feel a scooter would be more suitable for me, as it's only going to be for the work commute and the top limit speed of 50mph is enough :p
