In the process of building !!! - *Picture Heavy *

No, that was an earnest question, I genuinely didn't have a clue. You passed if what you said is true :p

Happens with me too.

I use speakers most of the time, but headset for gaming.

I have speakers and mic in back all the time, and then when i plug headphones + mic into front, the back turns off.

If i unplug from back and then put back in, it switches to the back i think :)

can you go to control panel then device manager and check if theres ant yellow question marks around any of your hardware?....the first thing you need to do on a install of windows is install the drivers for the mobo stuff.....which gives you all the chipset ,usb ,pci express etc etc drivers...basically all the most important stuff your pc needs.....if you dont install these first and install say a netgear wireless card chances are it will run like a pile of poo

the only yellow mark is next to 'other devices'
it says unknown device and is not able to find a driver for it.

go to system device in device manager and open it up - there should be something called Intel Management Engine Interface listed there, I suspect that is your yellow icon and you wont be able to find it

I see it and tried updating it but it has told me that the device driver is up to date.

does it see your netgear wireless card in there?

put you mobo cd back in and tell it to look in there for drivers on the other device it cant find

put the mobo cd in....right click on the device it doesnt see and choose update software....then point it to look on the mobo cd via browse location

then if its mobo related it will find it...if its not then it may not matter as much anyway

nice idea but if the drivers are compressed or in cab files then it won't work:(

worth a shot i think.....

either that or just run the mobo disk again to see if it picks it up the second time......just a huntch but i would say the chipset drivers and such were not the first to be installed after windows install

thank guys, i'll try that suggestion in a second.

If all else fails, is a network card an option?

not unless your onboard is faulty, you need to go into device manager and make sure you have a driver installed for the network connection, in network adapters. Chances are if the driver is there and operating normally it won't be faulty. if it's not there then you know why your lan is not working. If it was your lan caonnection, the wireless card would still get on and work would it not?

I still need you to check what I asked above pls

Darn. Ive tried both suggestions. It tells me that the drivers are up to date. then when I try to use the Disc to update the drivers of the 'unknown device' it cannot find any on the disc.

when you installed the drivers did you start with the mobo cd or graphics, network card etc etc

try reinstalling the drivers from the mobo cd over the top of what you already on the pc....

can you post up a pic of the device manager screen?

sorry but you are going to have to be more specific, and i'm still waiting for the sound, video and game controller question I asked previously.

You really should concentrate on doing this a step at a time, if you have unknown items in your device manager, you can't move on to doing anything until that is put right;)

Well I have to go now, so good luck, if you do get round to checking in the device manager in audio, look for nvidia hdmi audio devices, they should be there. If you don't have that, it could be your unknown
