In this thread...

The Porsche, it has presence, the R8 just simply doesn't.
You what? The few times I've seen an R8 in the street its been surrounded by people taking pictures and 12 year old boys with their jaws on the floor. Every 911 passes by almost completely unnoticed. The R8 has massive presence.

Anyway, for anyone interested Evo did a video group test of the R8 Spyder, Gen2 Turbo Cab and XKR Cab just recently...

Part 1
Part 2
Part 3

So, yeah, I'd have the R8 as I think it looks better, sounds better, is more exciting and is meant to be the better drivers tool.

I'd put a deposit on a 458 and start getting the overtime in, or as Rypt says, A GTR with toys. Neither Porsche nor Audi do it for me.

You chaps are up late for a school night.

I wouldn't have chosen either, either. Quite like the jag actually, damn sight cheaper too.

New 911? GT3 please. The R8 does little for me.

If money was no object and I wanted a spyder, it'd be a Zonda.

Porsche. Understated brilliance.

The words 911 turbo and understated do not go together at all imo.

To answer the OP i would have the R8 simply because i dont like the Porsche brand. It just seems that anyone who has a bit of money for a sports car buys a Porsche by default, its boring.

Edit - Though i dont think i would ever buy a proper sports car. Everytime i see someone in one i cant help but think the businessman driving is a tool...
