Incredible Performance from On Board APU.

Indeed, looking forward to the full fat reviews. Just a few more days.
If an extra £15 provides a significant performance boost it's easily justifiable even in a budget APU system.

It going to be hard to resist getting one of these to play around with even if it is a downgrade. I rarely game and a drop in power consumption would be nice (been thinking of droping the 6870 but need to be able to drive 3 monitors).

This RAM would probably do quite nicely with a Trinity A10 based system:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-018-TG&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1387

It seems even 2400MHZ DDR3 improves IGP performance with the HD7660D!!

Trinity is going to be a load of fun to tweak I suspect.

only thing is ram is very tall. i got some for my 3870K but my arctic cooler wouldn't fit with it. swapped it with my samsung green, which oc's nicely.
When is this up for sale? as i want it yesterday!

Hoping we see some decent reviews that show results with faster/overclocked memory, as well as generic results.
You can argue that you wouldn't be buying fast memory for a "budget" system using an AMD APU, but given how cheap memory can be at the moment, it's a poor arguement.

I was reading one of the previews and it showed that going from 1866MHZ DDR3 to 2400MHZ DDR3 gave a 10% performance increase. It seems 1866MHZ DDR3,is probably a good starting point IMHO,as going from 1600MHZ DDR3 to 1866MHZ DDR3 gave 10%,which means diminishing returns after that it seems.

Next week AFAIK.

Might get one in a HTPC, under water :p

A Corsair H60 or an Asetek Kuhler 620 should do the job!! :p

I wonder if the IGP can be overclocked to 1GHZ with suitable cooling??

I am quite interested to see how the mini-ITX A85 motherboards look. An A10-5700 in my mini-ITX box might be interesting!! :p

Lets hope we dont have to wait too long for them.
I have the same plan for my htpc box.

In the meantime I'll be having some fun with an A10-5800k and an Asus A85-M PRO.
Well, as soon as I can get my mitts on them, roll on Tuesday.

Looking foward to the impressions you and Martini1991(hopefully) have on the A10-5800K.

Also looking to see if we get any decent ITX boards, usually takes about 4 billion years for decent ITX AMD offerings to come out though...

Yeah,it takes AGES for decent AMD mini-ITX motherboards to appear!! :(
Intel definitely is better supported in the SFF field.

According to the guy's over at the X who've had these a while for testing. the Asus boards are the ones to go for.
Would be my only choice anyhoo, so I'm pleased about that.

4.5ghz and 1000 core is pretty doable from what I've been reading so far.
Pair that up with some 2400mhz ram and that will be a rather potent setup for an APU aimed at the lower end of the market.

These are about fun, buying one and expecting it to compete with an i5 / i7 is going to end in tears.
They offer around the same performance as i3's, only the gpu is much, much better.

So for someone like me who wants to have a reasonable PC by the TV to game on in 1080p + media center duties etc this could be a pretty interesting chip :) Are there any benchmarks out yet showing what performance you get when you add a graphics card into the mix? Will be very interested to see what price point these go out at. :)

Cheers :) Very interested to see the full reviews when this comes out... I wonder how high up the graphics tree you can go with this before the CPU starts to be a serious bottle neck. Should be getting a reasonable 3d TV just after Christmas so want to get something that can handle 3d gaming / Blu ray at 1080p.

Is there going to be a Trinity based replacement to Bobcat?

The replacement is another new design called Jaguar:

Isn't this only good for people that would want to game with older games and/or lower resolutions though? Usually on the PC people either want to game with the latest games or they don't at all, without many people in the middle.
I remember I looked into AMD Llano before, and it worked out cheaper and better to go Intel i3, and buy a cheap gfx card if required, or a decent gfx card if required. Plus you were not locked into a socket where your gpu performance was bound by the IGPU on the CPU.

EDIT: Actually they have pci-e slots too?

Am I missing something? Is it that these crossfire well or something?

EDIT2: What I mean is, they are over kill for a HTPC but under powered for gaming at what I consider "normal" res now of atleast 1920 x 1080. I'm not knocking it, I just want to understand it.
