I have vista 64

I have turned off indexing, but I still seem to have a lot of HD action. Is there anything else or is it normal?

When I turned indexing off, I applied it to c:\, sub folders, and everything instead of just c:\

Most likely it'll be Superfetch filling the cache. Does the activity die down a few minutes after you boot the machine?

Vista will thrash your HDD for approx 3 days till Indexing is all done and Superfetch sorted out.

You can help by totally killing indexing and System Restore.

Also adding a Readyboost USB Drive helps tame it a tad more.

I hate indexing and have never used it on XP or Vista, my searches that I rarely do take a few seconds longer, you do not want to listen to random indexing with 2 Raptors X'x all the time.
