Has anyone been to South India?
Are there any particular areas of India that are renowned for the typical white beach/turquoise sea picture?

Great curries apparently.

Yeah what's greater is every restaurant has its own taste, even though the dish is the same.

You go to north India again it will be different to South and the same will apply to the restaurants there. So much uniqueness and diversity.

I worked in Bangalore from August - December last year and visited a few places. There are some great beaches in the south, I liked Kerala (Varkala, Kollam and Kovalam) and also heard good things about Gokarna. Obviously Goa is nice as well :D

I've been wondering about this too. When I finish uni in the summer I want to go travelling. I closed my eyes and randomly picked a place on a map and chose India.

Everyone I know who went to India developed a sudden urge to use the toilet very frequently.

I spent a week in Sri Lanka followed by 2 weeks in India, not even the slightest stomach upset.
Probably got lucky but we didn't eat anywhere that wasn't busy and mostly avoided chicken. Ate street food, in small cafe type places, food on the buses and trains and a lot of curry.
Although KFC popcorn chicken is delicious!

Depends how far south you want to go and how much you're prepared to travel.

Fort Kochi is lovely, take a boat around the back waters and relax. Not much there so a couple of days is enough.

Punducherry is also nice, strong frence influence and a bit more beachy if thats what you're after.

If you just want to sit on a beach then Goa is probably what you're after although we avoided that so can't tell you anything about it.

If you're travelling be prepared for a country where no one knows anything and the trains and buses take forever to get anywhere.

its salads you ought to avoid not chicken...

I had a dogey belly in Sri lanka, it might of been the food or some of the illegal made strong alcohol I tasted that was being bottled somewhere not far from the river banks when i was on a boat cruise. Im pretty sure it was the latter.:o
