Flavio Briatorie has always struck me as a decent wheeler and dealer...perhaps he could take up the Ecclestone role for FOTA, if FOTA ever decided to breakaway?

Part of business is to take risks/gambles. Sometimes, they don't pay off.
Even some leaders of countries are crooked as hell. They still lead their countries without too much issue.
Remember, whoever takes up the hypothetical role, will be going head to head against Bernie, who will be pushing the FIA F1 Championship. And without resorting some dirty tactics, that person will get eaten by Bernie for breakfast...and then get fired/replaced by someone who can get races on the calender.

I don't think bernie is squeaky clean or the devil for that matter. The point i'm trying to make is that flavio has been found guilty of cheating. He is to close to certain drivers and teams so i don't think he would call things fairly and then he would get fired. He is good for the pit wall and driver agent but no way a good fota president.

Organising races and schmoozing the race organisers to allow FOTA to stage races (for the best price), is business. You need a good business/salesman to pull this off. Remember Bernie will be whispering in their ears for them not to stage any FOTA races and that the F1 race may be taken away from them, if the racetrack owners decide to stage a FOTA race (it's a dirty tactic...but that's what I would do). Briatore is a top businessman and has oodles of contacts. He will do his best to out-do Bernie, using any means necessary. If he gets fired later on down the line...so be it...but you can't discount him on the basis that he was found cheating, in the past. Much like you can't exclude the McLaren team from the FOTA World Series, based on what they did in 2007

The FIA do a fantastic job and if FOTA broke away, they would need to be confident that they could do a better job and take more money than what FIA give them (yes, it all comes down to money here...which is why you need a great salesman at its help, with massive clout).

It shows how dumb the entire NASCAR series is. He puts someone into a wall on purpose at 130mph and gets a 1 weekend ban even though he's not even sorry about it. He's done this kind of thing before as well!

Honestly, after watching that, I'm glad that it was the truck series and not the sprint cup, as things could well have been much worse. As for Kyle Busch, well, it's always him isn't it?
