Indian Takeaway

Lamb or chicken tikka korai, bhuna, balti, rogan josh, jalfrezi... So many awesome and not-too-hot-but-still-tasty choices :D It's hard finding a decent take-away though. I don't like the overly 'Westernised' dishes or the sickly creamy ones (korma, tikka massala etc). Passanda every now and then if I'm sharing is as 'creamy' as I'll go lol

Indian food rocks \o/
 
Phaal or Vindaloos are nice but hot. I find garlic naans are a bit of a garlic overload when eaten with a curry.

Try a chicken tikka bhuna, karahi, rogan josh or dhansak.
 
I am from South India, and I pretty much hate all take-away food. I cannot stand how oily and coagulated the curries are.

Trouble is, most Indian restaurants in towns and suburbs are just 'standard curry houses. I like them as I'm used to eating them, but it's obviously a radically different experience for Indians.

I took a contractor from northern India (Delhi-way) out for a 'curry' when he was working with me. He wasn't impressed to say the least! He was a vegetarian though, and used to homecooking, so not surprising.

He introduced me to vegetable paratha, which is quite nice.

Chicken Naga, I can't get enough of it, yes it's very hot but tastes great and gives you (well me anyway) a sense of euphoria after eating.

I used to hate hot currys when i was younger but must have built up an immunity over the years because now they are never hot enough.
 
Shami Kebab, Mushroom Pilau, Saag Paneer, Lamb Balti and a Keema Naan. You can't go wrong with that lot. Balti isn't that hot for a curry but I think it's the most flavoursome one I've tasted. Also, keep a jar of Mango chutney at home too, it's flipping lovely.
 
A question for all our Asian friends reading this; do you have rice with your curry? I ask because I have Indian friends who tell me that no Indian/Pakistani would eat rice with their curry, just nan or more likely chapatis.

Normally chappatis. We do eat rice, but normally not with the curry itself. Tbh, I don't understand what half of the stuff that's been listed here - made for the british consumer I suppose.
 
Korma is for pansies. Get a nice chicken tikka jalfrezi... yum yum!

God my mouth is watering thinking about decent curry - can't wait to stuff my face when I get back to Blighty!

I've started doing that, just mopping it up with bahjis, naans or Paratha (you have to try these they are great).
