Indilinx. Self repairing SSD firmware

Yes it does. Looks like we can Raid 0 now without worrying about Trim support

Perhaps the biggest take-home on all of this is the fact that sequential performance was restored to like-new conditions, on it's own, and completely independent of any partition being present on the drive. Other controllers, like those from Samsung, have resorted to a so called 'auto-TRIM' feature, which is only compatible with NTFS partitions at present, and can not work properly when those units are behind a RAID.

This sort of feature could actually make me plonk down some cash on an SSD. Who'd a thunk it! I'll be waiting for some of the cheaper brands to implement this into their firmware, thankyouplease

the crucial drives use an Indilinx barefoot controller so im sure if it works on a vertex it will work on a crucial.

Difference between Crucial and OCZ support is night and day though, OCZ are flawless. thats really goes for OCZ Vs the rest of the world when it comes to SSD's - Crucials dont have a jumper for ease of flashing either, so will be tricky.

Ooo interesting.

The G.Skill Falcons have a jumper so they will probably support it soon, although they can actually be flashed as OCZ Vertex drives (this will void your warranty though, so don't do it unless you are certain you know what you are doing and accept the loss of your warranty).

I've heard the new OCZ Core v2 has been announced, perhaps OCZ might be trying to muscle in on the Crucial's territory with the cheaper (than other OCZ drives) drive but superior features? I've seen prices of £130ish on Google, which is admittedly more expensive.

Doesn't need a jumper to flash the drive, same as the Ultradrive ME. Just boot from a USB drive and run firmware update.

Indilinx develop the software, what you see on one barefoot you'll see on the others at some point. The M225 I have here is 1571 same as OCZ Vertex 1.3

The new OCZ Vertex v1.4 firmware was released tonight, it's based on the latest Indilinx firmware but the OCZ's own additions. It includes automatic Garbage collection and TRIM support on Win7.

Just downloaded and installed, works a treat. Leave your drive for 10mins and it self-cleans itself restoring full performance.

Indilinx firmware version 1711 is out there. Super Talent released 1711 a couple of days ago. Crucial are dragging their heels a bit, new product for them I suppose
