Inexpensive Strong Beer/Lager

It's absolutely disgusting. May as well drink white spirit. Their Mr President is far superior.

I'm partial to the normal Punk so I didn't find it bad, but I wouldn't buy again (but had to try out of curiosity).

My nicer comment was more in relation to the comparison to Tennant Super et al.

Jack Hammer is their best stronger one.

Have opted to try some Kestrel Super Strength (9%). Amazon do delivery on 24 cans so can avoid having to go to the local booze shop to pick some up.
I know this thread is for beer, and cans.. but I do enjoy a good bottle of Henry Westons Special Reserve Cider (8.2% and 500ml)

I like that one. Big fan of Chimay Blue beer-wise, but nice to have a cider now and again.
Chimay Bleu is a cracker. It’s my all time favourite. Tesco used to do it for £2.50 a bottle but I haven’t seen it in ages and it seems to be up at over £4 a bottle from the various online sources.

Double Punk is nothing special as you say, is Mr President still a Tesco only beer?

Decent beer president, does sneak up on you as seems to hide the abv well.

I do like the lidl and aldi beer festivals that run ever now and again they get some decent ones in that otherwise I may not have tried.

However there have been a few that I've opened tasted and tipped down the sink  unheard of for beer with me haha

I always try and buy 2 when I'm trying new stuff in case of a bad can/bottle

I've always found the regular Aldi/Lidl attempts on craft beer to be pretty awful. As you say Lidl often have a decent Belgian set on offer occasionally, but their stock beers i've given up even trying them!

The recent batch of Tesco craft beers are really good. The Northern Monk and London Beer Factory ones especially. And the Cloudwater vs Brewdog IPA is probably the best supermarket craft IPA you can get.

For trying new stuff it's canny like

We've got a caravan up Berwick and I quite often pop to the morissons there just for beers haha.
They have a shedloads of Scottish beers on the 4for6 offer that you never see down this way, me and a mate both really like Old Jock and Wildcat.
Got a funny look last time I took 2 slabs of both haha

Don't see them often in supermarkets but I really like Saisons, and the 6degrees north one was in one of the lidl beer festivals and for 1.29 I wish I had clered them out haha.
Also tried one of the 6deg north stouts from Rehills in jesmond (a rather poopular shot for all things beer n spirits) an that was utter junk

Chimay Bleu is a cracker.

It was my first Belgian beer I think. Either that or Leffe Blonde. I introduced my sister-in-law to Belgian beer when she was over here. Chimay White was her favourite, she liked it so much she took the bottle back to Turkey with her.

Yeah was similar for me, but you can stick your email in and get a reminder :)

Works out at £3.95 delivery, but not bad for 8 beers.
