Infinity Eclipse or £5k self build air cooled?

Hi all,

I'm due for an upgrade soon. Budget is around £5k.

I really enjoyed building my last system (around 2 years ago) but definitely not confident enough to build a full water cooled rig.

So the question is...

Should I go for the Infinity Eclipse or should I spend the same money on a self-build air cooled rig?

If I did go the air cooled route, could I upgrade some components for the same budget? Perhaps throw a 4K monitor in for good measure?

It will be both my daily working computer (PhotoShop / Lightroom heavy use) and also a gaming machine (too many games to mention but lately it's been all about Elite dangerous).

Any help greatly appreciated as usual...

Thanks!

£5,000 buys you a hell of a lot of computer, doubly so if you're self-building.

Personally, I loved building my watercooling loop and I wouldn't really say it was any more difficult than putting a PC together. So long as you read all of the instructions and have a plan for how you're going to do it, it's fairly straightforward.

With self-building, that kind of budget pretty much guarantees you the latest and greatest for 3 or 4 years when you factor in the reselling of older parts in order to stay on top.

If going for a pre-built system, it might be worth looking at the 8Pack Comet, purely for all the service extras you get for it being an "8Pack" system. Gaming-wise I would expect pro-overclocked 780Ti's to outperform Titan Blacks anyway.

That is a heck of a budget :D I think you would be better off asking for the thread to be moved to general hardware. You will get more response that way.

Click on the red triangle (Report post) and ask that way.

If I had that sort of money I would be tempted by one of the 8 pack systems , then in 2-3 years when better gpu's are out all you have to do is buy components, and ocuk will fit them, test and overclock them free of charge , great service !

8 Packs Systems are a little out of budget though.

The Eclipse he has picked is a good choice...

Personally with £5k id get a WC rig built for me..

If you were running air and self building you could get MUCH MUCH more for you're money but then it'll hot and loud. :)

We could spec an air cooled rig up though, go for it ethel. :)

Oh derp it has 8gb RAM, thought it would have come with 16!

Yeah I suppose a custom/Infinity thingy would be better then
