Initdisk Error

Hi All,

I am trying to secure erase my SSD before a fresh reinstall. When I first tried to run Samsung's disk utility to erase the drive in freedos I got the following error:
initdisk error reading partition table drive 01
I tried again with the SSD disconnected and got the same error. I also tried Killdisk with the same results. Both erase utilities are run from CD. I am tempted to try another CD drive but I also had the same error when booting Samsung's utility from a USB drive. Moto has latest bios. Any ideas welcome! Many thanks

Try using Parted Magic to do it. Easy enough to do but loads of guides online if you get stuck

Do those utilities need the drive (or rather the interface) to be in IDE mode? Flip it over in BIOS and try again?

Thanks very much for the quick replies. I tried switching over to IDE from AHCI in the bios but still no luck. It seems really odd that the software throws this error up even when the hdd isn't connected (I have retried it in IDE with the drive connected). I even removed some of the ram - I'm guessing this is where the software is stored when running.
