ARG,

ok bought a digimate III portable drive enclosure to dump photos onto during travelling. I plug it into the usb port, the drive spins up, and is recognised by windows, but when i go into disk management to format It says i need to initialize the disc,

I need to format it into FAT32, but heres the trouble I'm having, find attatched screenshots, using vista (just classic theme :p) when i go into disk management screenshot 1 is what i am greeted with, i presume it is in reference to the attatch Digitmate...so i click ok to initialize the disk and screenshot 2 is the result "the device is not ready" ;/

In explorer, there are 2 removable disk drives in my computer as in screenie 3 and right click > format brings up that error.

No idea what to do. I guess it need initializing before it can be formatted ?:/ bnut i cant even do that in windows.

Screenshots aren't working, might be due to trying to pull them direct from gmail. Try uploading them to Imageshack or the like.

I would ensure that you have the drive connect correctly inside the caddy if possible, then if that changes nothing then try it on a different pc. It may be that you hav a faulty drive

I've tried it on two other laptops which have XP on and the same result. I dont have an adapter but I did install it to one of the laptops and take it through windows installation up to the point where you format and then took it out in the hope it was formatted, but no luck.

What about if i actually install windows on it and then try. HHmm might try that and then look to return the drive to the place i bought it.
