Insect Id please

Well I'm a self taught expert in distinguishing jaspers (aka hover flies) from wasps because of the drama my partner causes whenever a flying insect comes nearby.

We had a daddy long legs fly into the bedroom a few days ago, which started meandering around on the ceiling. I stood on the bed to catch it while the gf, presumably, left the room to use the bathroom. A few minutes later she called out: "Is it safe to come in now?" She'd fled the room!
 
Due to living alone I've had to actually man up and remove insects myself.

I use a plastic cup to catch them then release outside.

For bees / wasps, I have to risk opening the door / window they are trying to escape from.

Not keen on killing any of them, except for when I needed a wasp infestation killing by a professional.
