Hi all.

Got an insignia 2014 2.0 .

Runs fine and has been well maintained, my dad had it before so not been thrashed.

But, when I put my foot down and the turbo kicks in, some of the time the rev counter goes up but I have no power for those brief seconds?

I've checked the MAF, looks clean like new. Turbo hose pipe is a common fault in these but again I see no split and this was changed 5 years ago?

Just wondering if I've missed anything ?

Yep, as above, clutch is shot.

If the revs go up & vehicle speed doesn't increase then it's all it can be unless either the clutch is shot or it's in neutral.

Auto or manual? If Auto, potentially normal unless already at speed in which case bad lock-up on the torque converter. If manual, see replies above.

I've just taken it out for a run and gave it a good run and the problem didn't happen? Just went through the gears ok?

I can't work it out but I do agree it all points to the clutch . Would this also happen in lower gears ? As it's just when I stick my foot down this occurs.

It'd happen under heavier loads. So yes in all gears when you put your foot down.

Deffo points to clutch.

Is the turbo kicking in properly? Potential boost leak? It does sound like textbook clutch failure.

Yes it kicks in but the problem only happens when the turbo kicks in if that makes sense. If I drive the car with normal revs and steady it doesn't happen at all

Clutch is on its way out, and only slipping when you exceed a certain torque from the engine, ie. when the turbo kicks in and the torque is at its peak.

Hope you don't need a new flywheel too.
You wouldn’t change one without the other - it all has to come apart and the flywheels are another weak point, so you’d be well annoyed to have the gearbox off and clutch replaced only to have the flywheel go the next day and have to take it all apart again.

Change one, change them both.

Yeah I guess I would change it all these days for the sake of no hassle later on.

In my almost 20 yrs of driving I've only ever had 1 car that needed a new clutch and I only got the clutch (clutch kit including CRB) replaced, not the flywheel. That was on a Celica ST202. Drove it for another 6 years and 50K with no issues.

Clutch and new dmf just under 1k.
Took it to the garage this morning.
they said cause was clutch ? or that's still a hypothesis ?

turbo control valve ?
seems a common issue, intermittent irregular boost

can't you distinguish if it is a clutch by sensing loss of power transfer/responsivenes at higher speeds when you aren't soliciting turbo
