Insomnia I55 Thermaltake project

Are the acrylic sheets there to direct airflow? if not they seem like they will cause quite a bit of restriction to me?

tho the workmanship is very good! is it being done on a machine?

its really impressive what you have done there with acrylic. inspiration for rest of the builders.

Thank you very much Faheem. :)

the acrylic work is very impressive

Thanks Keechy!

This is being done for a casemod for show, not to make every single bit of airflow count :) The CPU is being cooled by a 240 and a 420 radiator so even if I blocked half of the airflow it would still be as cool as needed :)

I made a bracket to fit the GPU vertically so it will be right in front of the window.

Here I have painted the font and rear grill. I cannot paint the PSU shroud yet because it still needs holes for cables and tubing. I couldn't wait to see how it would look with the fans turned on so I tried the rear fan. The biggest conclusion is that the photo does not show what the real deal looks like for sure.

Those acrylic panels look excellent! Are they just painted with a matte spray paint?

Thank you very much :)

Yeah they first have a layer of Motip plastic primer and then finished with layers of Motip extra fine paint Traffic Black Matt RAL 9017.
It is the best looking matt black from a spray can I have found so far. But you have to look out only to use their own primers as I have put it on another layer of paint and another brand primer once and it started bubbling like a failed chemical project.

Since I was putting the GPU vertical anyway I had some spare room. And I needed some spare room as well as I had no place to fit the SSDs. And it is like SSDs were made to fit exactly there :D

I will be putting 2 SSDs here and a 3rd one elsewhere in the build.

Since it will be at a show there will be a plexiglass window in front of these to keep them from getting "unvoluntarily taken".

I want to show off this card now.
I have been lucky enough to be able to work with KFA2 during "Game hard, Fold Harder". They were kind enough to also support this project with the KFA2 GTX 980 SuperOverClock

Very nice backplate as well. And the colours on the cooler match perfectly with the theme of the project with dark red, black and grey.

Thank you very much KFA2 and especially my good friend G.B. :thumb:

this card is a real deal Tim. give it some heat and lets see what it can deliver.

Are you making a custom water block for it and what about the cpu block? Or is it the same project you told me about in the email?

Hey Faheem, yeah this is a pretty nice graphics card for sure. :)
Sadly there wasn't enough time to make a custom block for it.
We are already busy doing the 980ti ref right now and a cpu block.

This mod is for Thermaltake so it makes use of their watercooling gear which also means their fittings and their CPU block. The gfx card will be on air for this project. But its colour theme works amazingly well with the system.
