Hi,

My hard disk has failed and I have now ordered a Samsung Spinpoint F3 as a replacement. After installing Vista and running my new drive is there a way to put, or leave, my old drive in the computer so that I can drag & drop my data even if I have to use a data recovery programme?

Any tips and advice would be most appreeciated.

Failed as in not working at all or just bad sectors? If it's not working at all then obv. not; and if it is working still then what do you reckon?

You might be lucky and only the boot sector is corrupt.

If you plug it into spare SATA and power connectors you might get it to show up in Vista as another drive. If that happens then you can just drag/drop your data off onto the new disk.
