HI everyone

Brought a SSD from OCUK this week on offer, the OCZ agility 60GB is case u were wondering. I followed a lot of the guides from this forum but now my network adaptor won't work.

Ok brief run down of whats been happening:

I forget to set conroller in BIOS to AHCI but I thought no big deal, I knew how to change so didn't think would be issue.

1st issue: After booting into windows and running windows experience to disable disk defrag and superFetch, powered down, reconnected my 2 other HDD's and powered up, didn't load anything from other drive.

On the other drive I installed everything as I always I would go SSD, so I left my 1st HDD to just have OS on and 2nd HDD had evreything else.

Once again no big deal, I loaded GPU driver and installed fine then noticed no ASUS MB options installed, copied all files from old OS HDD into SSD just in case and booted again, no luck.

Dug out old MB software disc, installed all drivers and made sure LAN was enable in BIOS, still can't get online, when troubleshooting just says about network adaptor not being properly installed.

I'm tempted just to completely reinstall OS again but i'm not sure if this will work, any ideas

Thanks in advance

Hmmm seems odd. If you do re-format , remember to Secure Erase the solid state drive.
I have an Asus mobo also, but for drivers i let windows do the work. All i install is my sound blaster drivers and video card drivers. Not forgetting chipset drivers which includes the network, but i am already connected via default drivers.

If i were you, can you get on by means of a wireless adapter? Then see if windows can pick up a solid driver for your ethernet port.

Thanks guys

I wasn't sure if the AHCI thing would effect it as I just foget to do it pre install of Win7 OS and was gonna change through registry as suggested on guides on here to fix as 1st time turned on AHCI after installing OS and got BSOD as result obviously.

The only thing I can think else to try is to get the updated LAN drivers for my MB off ASUS website on my laptop, stick it on USB then load them onto PC.

Also feel a bit stupid but what is secure erase, can I not just boot from OS disc again and just reinstall on SDD with AHCI now enabled through BIOS before?

Sorted it now

Tired what I was donig previous but kept coming with with a weird error when installing drivers:

The RealTek Network Adapter/Controller was not found.
If Deep Sleep Mode enabled Please Plug the Cable

Found some forums relating to this and suggested moving ram for 10 mins and cleaing CMOS, did this but same fault.

Resolved by formatting SSD and jsut reisntalling Win7 now working ok, not quite sure why is meesed up 1st time
