Installing help (Pics included)

I can't believe so many people said the blue slot tbh!! That's clearly a PCIe slot (lower, divider towards the edge of the case, retention clip)

I know! Imagine telling the guy to put it in the blue. (PCI-E) it's most definitely the white (PCI)

The blue slot is for Graphics cards etc, the white is for mostly anything.

Thanks for all your help guys. I have managed to get it in (with effort) and it is working fine. Definitely a difference to on board sound!

Got a couple of quick questions though.

I have my TV hooked up via HDMI to my graphics card, will the sound still come through even though I have installed a new sound card?

I also have headphone and microphone ports on the front of my computer, will these need to go into the new sound card or are they ok on left on the MOBO?

Cheers,
Tom

Re your headphone and mic ports, you'll need to take the front audio connector of the mobo and stick it into the sound card in order to get the front panel audio working

also your tv, yea sound should come thru ok, tho you may have to have a fiddle in the control panel. can't remember off hand what i did when i installed my sound card, but my audio comes thru the tv via hdmi as and when i need it. i'll have a look later when i get home if you still need help

Nice to see you finally got this working! ;) How much better than onboard is this? Was debating whether to try and pick one up, but not sure if my speakers were good enough to really tell the difference.

I only have a pair of £30 Sony 2.1 speakers with subwoofer and I can definitely tell the difference. The sound is more crisp and precise.

Through my Dr. Dre Beats headphones it's amazing.

Glad I did the upgrade, even if it was a bit of a pain installing!

Cheers mate. It is working through the TV fine. I will get the side off the tower and have a look at connecting the front headphone port.

Thanks for your help.
