Installing New Graphics Card

Hi,

Recently bought the Radeon HD 5450 video card for my newly built computer, and I was wondering how exactly do I go about setting it all up?

My motherboard is this - https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-233-GI

It has integrated graphics on it at the moment.

Firstly, will I need to uninstall the old graphics drivers from my integrated board?

Then, unplug everything, open up the case, disconnect integrated graphics and plug in new card? If so, where do I do this? Will the ports line up with my I/O plate? Do I need to hook it up to my PSU, if so which connector?

Then obviously boot up, and install new drivers off CD Rom.

Are there any videos out there that would help me through the process?

Can anyone shed any light on this for me?

Thanks in advance.

Tom

Uninstall old drivers then reboot and get in to the motherboard bios normally by pressing delete upon bootup when prompted.

Onboard graphics are usually disabled in here under integrated peripherals.

Disable it save and exit then shut down plug in new card boot up install cards drivers.

Do I need to take anything off motherboard to fit the new card in?

If not, won't I have two HDMI ports, two VGA ports etc.

Yes you will have two of everything but you just ignore the old onboard ones and use the new connectors on the new card - very easy bud :p

Ok, thanks for the response.

So where will my new card go? In terms of getting the connectors to come out the back of the case?

Does it just slot into the mobo like RAM modules do?

The PCIe card goes into the PCIe slot.
It's usually the largest, most colorful horizontal slot, directly blow your CPU. (not RAM, which is usually to the right and above)

That way it'll also fit perfectly to the back of your case.

It will go into that light blue horizontal slot under the cpu. All you need to do is disable the onboard graphics, turn off the system, place the card in, hook up your monitor to the new card, turn the pc on, install drivers then you're ready to experience the power of the 5850
