Are there any guides about to doing as thread title? Board is a gigabyte z87x-oc

No idea what to set up in the bios etc so any advice would be great!

Probably installing from a USB stick if possible, win 7/8 (not decided)

Many thanks :)

not too hot on raid, but you would need to set the sata ports to raid mode in the bios

then at bootup press ctrl and I to access the raid console and setup a raid 0 array on the two evos ssd's once done save/exit and then boot from usb and install windows

if done correctly the two ssd's will appear as one big drive when installing windows

thanks mate, is there anything specific I would need to do in the bios to make sure its all set up ok? am I right in thinking you need to set it to ACHI or something? been a while since I installed windows so not sure if anything has changed :D

ahci is different, raid is what you want

and to setup the array you press ctrl and I to access the console at startup

Looking at a few sites there appears to be differing opinions on whether its actually worth doing, some saying you will see no real world difference others not.

What are peoples thoughts on this? is there any point me bothering or should I use one for windows and apps and the other for games?

Absolutely no reason to RAID an SSD for speed, you wouldn't notice the speed increase apart from moving massive files about, maybe a second or two booting up.

Depends on what you are trying to do ;) Capturing line rate 10Gbit ethernet to disk needs RAID! (Needs min 1.25GBps sustained write.)

The 250GB EVOs sustained write is only about 240MB/s wheras the 500GB one is more like 400MB/s look up Turbowrite. You may be better with one 500GB disk than two 250GB drives in RAID0

Thanks mate :)

I've emailed and asked if I can amend my order.

Another question (probably stupid...) regarding partitioning storage drives. Is there any point? as if the drive dies it all goes anyway, if I have say a 3tb drive where only my files, no apps etc will be on it is there any reason to partition?
