Installing Vista

yes I still have xp installed

SO I can just go to my computer, then load vista?

that sounds much easier.. but why do it the other way?

No reason, unless you dont have an OS installed. Yes, you can install from within your XP install. If you have a partitioned drive or 2 hard disk you could dual boot also. Just insert the dvd after booting or double click on the drive icon and he install dialog should pop up for you.

Windows will have the correct driver installed for your DVD drive.

1: You should be able to boot from the DVD and install from there
2: You can install from inside Windows.

It's really quite simple.

Just boot up Windows and pop your DVD in the drive and then click the "install" button which should pop up in an auto run. If no auto run, check My Computer and see if the DVD for Vista is being seen. If so, double click on the DVD drive's icon and run setup from there.
