Insulate Britain and Extinction Rebellion, domestic terrorists?

Or a sea of computer displays running 24/7 at the logon screen through the night. The News channels are guilty of that as well.
go to any city centre at night.
most places are still lit up like christmas trees, the massive digital advertising screens stay on through the night etc

There's an NHS donation building near me too where if you walk past at night all the lights are off but you can see the glow from PC screens in every window

Ridiculous tactics that were always going to backfire, I hope this makes climate groups think a bit smarter in future. This lot have been a PR disaster.

If they had gotten their PR right they could be so much more effective, talking PR disasters they have got to stop putting that Tracy woman in front of cameras, she doesnt do them any favours because she is intensely dislikeable , she always comes across as either patronising by calling everyone sweetheart like she is talking to children or she comes across as a ranting nutjob. If she is the best choice amongst them to be in front of a camera then they have no chance of verbally getting their message across

One of the jailed women is going on hunger strike in protest.

This is the same eco warrior who less than 10 years ago, went on an 81,000 mile round the world trip in a diesel car

As they seem to be obsessed with the suffragette movement (they seem to repeatedly bring them up in conversation) they are probably aware that the suffragettes commonly went on hunger strike in prison and were often released as a result, so she is probably hoping for the same to happen. To be quite honest I fully expect all of them to be released after 1 month anyway.

Blimey, was it a submarine as well?

Funnily enough even 10 years ago the government were encouraging people to use diesels because of the lower CO2 emissions.

Trouble is they put out more poisonous nitrogen oxide.

81'000 across 52 countries isn't really that bad though is it? That's probably over many years and the average person will do that in 6 or so years assuming around 8000 per year.

She's still an idiot though.

Over 5 years and she was planning to ship her 4X4 to South America for a tour of the continent

Someone Start a Group called.

"Turn off the lights" but all you do is campaign outside of big buildings in your city for them to start switching off the lights at night.

Move from one street to the next.

you could probably make a big difference with no impact and have public support.

But only targeting commercial buildings.

this laying in the road or super glueing your face nonsense is just a bunch of bored middle class people trying to be relevant and important. it's the kind of thing you would expect kids to do because of tiktok, the glue your face to a motorway challenge, then time how long it takes the police to remove you and try to beat the record.

BTW did you know football stadiums cover the turf in grow lights between games.

also another big waste, it was never needed back in the day and people seemed to cope fine...

Do they instead super glue themselves to the front of the building until the lights are turned off?

It was a double effect in that once the lights are off, no one will see them.

do people need to see them at night? I can walk through the city centre at 3am and literally the only people you see are a few delivery guys dropping off stuff at Greggs etc.

I'm not talking about Christmas lights or city centre Street lights.

It's such a small change that saves businesses money why would they resist? you just need to raise enough awareness, not kick up a fuss.

surely it's not a company wide policy and something a Store manager or Area/Regional manager could sort out so easily. they just need a bit of pressure from the public
