Hi,

I';m after some decent travel insurance that will cover me for changed/cancelled flights, loss of baggage, as well as extreme sports (white water rafting sky diving etc)

I've had a look at the STA premier policy. Seems pretty good, although at £155 for 4 months its a tad expensive. Anyone have experience with STA or know of any other companies that offer very good cover for evverything BUT extreme sports, or INCLUDE them as well.

Thanks

Make sure you pay for re-patriation of your body - can be very expensive/traumatic for family if you die.

I've no idea why, and its quite inappropriate, but for some reason that really made me laugh, maybe its just the wording :D

I bought a year of travel insurance from STA. It was hugely expensive, but they have a reputation for being the best youngsters looking to experience the world. Then, about 6 weeks into the trip, when I checked the small print it didn't cover me for such 'venture sports' as football, cricket or hillwalking.  Never mind white water rafting or scuba diving or any of the fun stuff I wanted to do.

I cancelled it, got most of the policy refunded and bought a policy from STA in Australia that was a fraction of the price and let me do mad stuff like sky-diving and bungee jumping safe in the knowledge that it wouldn't cost my family a penny to have my battered corpse back should anything go wrong.

You didn't say where you're travelling to but my advice would be to cover yourself for the flight over and then use the strength of the pound to buy some cover from a local travel agent when you get there.
Otherwise try a company that runs venture or skiing holidays and see if they can reccommend an insurer who won't balk at the thought of you leaving your hotel room.
