Bloody hell it's expensive!

Never bothered with getting my license, but with an upcoming holiday it certainly could be useful.

So I looked at my parents cars which they should I could borrow if needs be, and the insurance is outstanding! Talking around £3,000 for a vauxhall zafira 1.8 petrol,or a peugeot 407 sw 2.0 diesel.

I understand that I'll only have just have got my license, but that's madeness at 21 haha.

At what age will it start coming down to sub £1k?

another thing is because you aint got any driving experience atm thats why its a bit expenisve! im 20 now with 3 no claims and things are getting cheap , e.g my insurance went from £2400 now to £1000

its not really age as much as driving experience. although obviously it may come down slightly if you have a licence but dont dive for a couple of years. (ive found that from 17 to 19 my insurence quotes have dropped from £2300 to £1400, and hopefully they will drop more next year

I started driving at the age of 22 and paid about £1000 to drive a P-reg Nissan Primera 1.6 with Bell Direct. That was the cheapest company I could find that would insure me at my age. I added my parents as named drivers which reduced the premium a fair bit.

thats the exact pattern i went through, i went from £2400 when i was 17 to now £1300 at 19.

My 22 year old friend got a quote for a Porsche Boxster S for £1200.

A BMW 335i for me would be £900 and I'm 21.

:O how comes u sure he didnt lie about the specs abit? because i know a mate whos driving a 300 bhp car and he lied so much that it went down to £900 [not the cleverst thing to do].

I paid £800 up front for two years fully comp insurance when I was 19 on a 1.6i Rover 400, that was 14 years ago though :)

My first policy in my own name was when I was 21 I think, was £650 a year on a Vectra 1.8

That was 6 years ago mind

Try Elephany and Admiral, they're usually good for new drivers
