Insurance Prices!

Cant belive the prices some of these companys want to charage, been looking round for a 30yr male with a slow astra diesel with 7 years ncd and the cheapest ive found is churchhill at £297. seems to have gone up by about £60 from lastyear! some of the prices those stupid search/compare came up with were amazing, they went from £310-£70 and over!

these prices seem to be getting rather silly now. im glad im not just starting to drive as these young kids must be finding it very hard

I have an astra diesel 1.7 Dti, live just down the road from you, 32 years old and have 9+ years NCB, my renewal for this year was £232 fully comp with the missus as a named driver....that was with Endsleigh.

I do sympathise with some drivers though, insurance prices can be ridiculous, i just wish the insurance companies could be forced to adopt a cashback scheme if you didnt claim in the year you then got a percentage of your premium back....would be very nice indeed and maybe prompt people to look at different/more interesting or exotic vehicles.

motor insurance = legalised theft.
When a kid gets quoted £3000 for a car worth about £1000 you got to wonder if incorrectly wired robots are on the other end of the phone.
It's also no wonder that there are so many uninsured drivers.

My 1.9dci 2001 Laguna, went up by about £30 this year (i think), yet i have made no claims, my SP30 should be quashed now (after 5 years) and have 7 years ncb. (protected as usual). they have no reason to penalise me.

Try Adrian Flux, My Insurance is around 130 quid a year & has been since joining Flux even with the Modded Off roaders I have run.

Repair costs of cars have gone up due to the recession and general economic climate. Ever think of that? It not all about you ;)

it wont be long before our roads are filled with un-insured motorists.
The prices of insurance is scandalous and it needs to be capped per band in my opp

Why do so many people fail to understand the basic concept of car insurance? The value of what you drive is only part of the equation, and then only if fully comp. You might be driving a shed but you can still write off someone else's £50k beemer!

So what's changed? A £50k beemer is a £50k beemer as it was 10 years ago. My chances of hitting one are surely less the more years that go by without me hitting one.....certainly not more chance. So why the hike in price for the lower risk drivers?

Maybe 2001 shape Luguna body panels etc cost slightly more now ... the insurers maybe have spotted this trend on their average repair costs for your car and therefore you saw a £30 increase. It's not really a big deal.

There's no way of knowing what the £30 is attributed to. But it is easily possible to understand the possible reasons behind it.

My insurance jumped up £300 this year with Direct Line and that's with another years NCB. managed to get it back down to what it was with Sky Insurance, Adrian Flux wanted more than Direct Line!

I'm with Direct Line.....have been for 6 years now. Not much in the way of customer loyalty though. Some competitors were slightly cheaper, but not enough to go through the hassle of moving, so just let the DD carry on.
NathanE; i know £30 doesn't seem like a big deal mate, but i've not cost them a penny in 5 years....yet they still up my premium. I know why....i just don't like it.

I am 26, 8 years NCB, car garaged over night, decent post code - for a 2009 standard 1.6 Ford Focus, Direct Line wanted £860 after being with them for 8 years and Adrian Flux wanted £1040! Sky Insurance luckily got me to £540 but still well over what I was expecting. Such is life.

Agreed. My renewal with them went down from £740 to £640 this year :)

Last year my renewal with my previous insurance company was going to be £1100+ so Flux were a great deal cheaper!

This is another thing that confuses me. If you ever ask your friends for insurer recommendations you'll get loads of different suggestions and yet when you try them they tend to be sky high compared to your existing insurer?
Take Adrian Flux.....nichorob got quoted well over the odds, yet Naf was quids in. I know some insurers have certain criteria they will quote favourably by, but blimey........so much diversity!

*dons tin hat* It's all a conspiracy i tells ya!

I had an Extreme off roader with all sorts of mods, A Massive Exterior roll cage, Jacked, Massive Wheels/Tyres, Bucket seats, Harness, Winches & everything was bolted together in a Shed. :D
Flux quoted me 139 quid with No mods & 119 quid with mods. + :p
In all honesty it was the most extreme vehicle I've ever had on the road & it was one of the cheapest.

*I am an old git though*

And insurance on a premium car for someone who calls it a 'diesel bm' is likely to be expensive anyway

yes makes perfect sense....dont use the full name when describing it (on a forum) and your premium goes up. :p
