Insurance Result

A FCD cuts fuel to protect the engine in case of over boosting. It is an in built safety mechanism so that it doesnt over extend your injectors/run lean by running too much boost etc.

To bypass that is a bodge method of tuning IMO. I would rather get the car mapped properly to make sure the car fuels properly at a given boost pressure instead of hoping its going to be ok by bypassing the fuel cut.

Its only my opinion as I said, and as I dont know the ins and outs of tuning your car, perhaps it might be ok. Its just not the way I would consider it. :)

My insurance is a whopping £320 with all mods declared (and protected NCB)

It'll go up to around £500 on a modded VXT when the time comes.

Slightly OT but can you tax that car as a 1.3?

I can yes, because it's down as a 1.3 on the V5 because it's an import.

The UK cars are down as 2.6 due to an 'agreement' about rotary engines.

Eidolon: That's stupidly cheap, who's that with?

Just put in for a quote. Anyone else put power at the wheels figure in to make it sound better ?? :D

LOL, I just put my FW figure. I was tempted to send a copy of the dyno graph too ;)

My renewel should be £480 with Barclays, It was £850-ish last year with NU, but they're both TPFT only :(

Not too bad considering i'm 19 with (hopefully) 2 years NCB.

I'm tempted to change to some jap turbo power now my insurance is reasonable (getting older), seem to be able to insure most stuff for <£700.

The Clio will be about 4-450 this year with protected ncd.

Elephant.

For years they wouldn't even quote me then I just thought I'd give them another go the other week and to my surprise my insurance was mega cheap. My gf is insured through them for the CTR too, cheapest by far.

Companies seem to go through phases I've found. I remember when everyone raved about Liv Vic for cheap ins, then one year they just ramped up their requirements/prices.

Privilege (sp?) are also pretty good I've found.

Last time I tried them they were quoting me silly prices. I'll take another look.
