Okay, it's insurance renewal time.

I'm 19,nearly 20, had my license 2.5 years and have 2 NCB's.

My car is a 2002 Saxo VTR.

Current insurer is Morethan who are offering a renewal price of £592 TPFT.

I could really do with DOC cover and the problem with morethan is they will not insure me on anything above Group 10 and I'm thinking of changing the car in September.

Best price currently is £605 fully comp with Elephant.

Any idea's guys?

Insurance is different for every single person.

It depends on the following:
Your address
Your age
Your driving history (how long you've had your licence, any NCB, any claims, any convictions)
Your car
Your use of the car (commuting, business use, annual mileage)
How much a specific insurance company have paid out on people with similar circumstances as you.
What way the wind is blowing.

OK, maybe not the last one, but car insurance is something to no one can really recommend, due to the varying number of different possibilities.

The only way to ensure you have the lowest insurance quote is to contact each company individually.

With the Admiral group (Admiral, Bell, Diamond, Elephant), try adding a middle-aged female as a second driver, that may bring it down a little.

I'm convinced this is a major factor when getting a premium, I've been quoted by the same company on two consecutive days and had over £100 price difference.

I'll never fully understand it :(

Am I covered to drive other cars?
Provided you have a full EU licence, most of our policies cover the policyholder to drive someone else's car for third party only cover. Other restrictions may apply, please refer to your policy documents to confirm if this extension applies.

Says on my insurance certificate that "The policyholder, if they have a full EU licence, may also drive, with the permission of the owner, any Pricate Motor Car subject to the terms and the conditions of the policy" and in the policy just states that the vehicle must not be modified, the vehicle must not be owned by the policy holder and that you are covered third party only.

I'm 21 but been insured tpft with them since I was 18 and it has said this on every certificate they have given me. Very reasonable prices too, I pay just under £400 on a Xsara TD with 3 years ncb.

They are also a bunch of completely useless *****!

Lies, sexy irish women answer the phones

Bell let you add DOC for a small extra charge regardless of age on their Flexibell policies.

That would be fine if i was looking at them but the fact that most of them are as bad as speaking to an Indian chap who doesnt seem to understand english very well is just plain annoying

Never had a problem, you must speak funny :p

I was gonna say I know Bell and Quinn both offer DOC (About £40 extra iirc) and bother are normally very good with younger drivers, if DOC isn't essential, Direct Line may give you a better over-all quote.
